i've been on the goods for 13 months now and have been very fortunate to get the "results not typical" results. So much so, that it is almost impssible to apply minoxidil to the scalp because ironically i have too much hair. It has gotten to the point where I have grown my hair and its sticking together cause of the rogaine no matter how long i take to part my hair and drop it in and use my fingers. My hair looks pretty good (all things considering) when i dont have to use the stuff. My question is this. 1) If I've been using for 1 year, should I lower the amount to once per day rather than twice? This would make going to work a whole lot easier. 2)Also would it improve the amount of time that rogaine will continue to work for me? 3) Should i wait a few months because further growth is possible even after the first year?

I've tried researching before posting, but everyting is pretty unclear. Any help/experience would be awesome. THankyou so much!

I successfully switched from twice to once per day applications of the minoxidil last summer. I must admin, its mucho easier to stick to the regimen too. My hair has actually gotten better all around since last summer, although I there might be other variables involved for doing so. Statistics say that you have probably peaked after a year of usage of the minoxidil. Propecia usually peaks at year 2 but then again, everyone is different.

Are you applying the minoxidil with the dropper? or sprayer?

thankyou so much for the reply, I appreciate it :D . It's good to hear that youve had continued success and that it isnt a one year wonder. Since i havent been at work for 2 months and have been growing my hair since (it looked awful for about 3 weeks during the growing, ) the LAST thing i want is for people to be running their hands through my hair and saying "wow, I didnt know you had hair." And then getting a handfull of greasy crap. I use both the dropper and the spray for each application to better get to the hard spots.
Until this fascination with my new hair blows over, I plan on applying only at night for 2 weeks and then return to twice a day for 6 months. Does anyone have any recommendations against htis vacation? Any knowledge would be great!! I couldnt find anythign specific. THankyou!

i been using finasteride for as long as i have been minoxidil. I wouldnt take a break from finasteride like i plan to on minoxidil, but in 6 months, i plan to not use it on weekends.

if greasiness is your problem, try Dr. Lee's minoxidil (#500). Dries in few minutes. And then you can comb anyway you want. The cost is comparable to rogaine, but expensive than kirkland.

I was on minoxidil for years and years. I played with all the variables (amount, frequency, etc..) and for ME (just my individual response) it was okay down to once per day. I also even used half the amount, once per day and while that wasn't as good as the full dosage, for me it did work-however I did begin to notice the 'diminishing returns' after awhile. When I used the full amount, it grew thick. But on the low dose/frequency, I could tell that it wasn't working as well.

But two things to consider-1.I started with most of my hair, just slight thinning and 2. I did respond well to the stuff.
