Losing The Battle Or Setback Due To Different Brands?

Hi,

I have been lurking on this forum for many years and posted occasionally. I am 32 years old and I have a double crown, but also thinning there. I have received comments on my crown for more than a decade, but think I started thinning when I was 23-25.

My hairline is also somewhat uneven. One side has hardly receded at all, but one side is receded and thinner. My quality of hair where I have it as in most of my head is very good for my age when I look around. I have been on finasteride since the summer 2015 so a bit more than 4 years. I started using a brand called Finasteride Actavis and cut 5mg tablets into 4 pieces. After one box of that (about 400 days) I switched to Proscar and felt my hair got better. May have been placebo, but I felt it that way. I was on Proscar until I had to renew my subscription. They only had Actavis and I was thinking finasteride is finasteride, so I went with that. I saw more hair on my comb after a while and my crown is getting worse. I went back to my doctor and got myself a new subscription and got Proscar at the pharmacy. I have been on that now for 2 months’ time, but still more hair on the comb and my crown look worse. Am I losing the battle, or do I need to go trough another shed before Proscar once again better things and stabilises my hair? When I first started Finasteride I lost a lot of hair on the crown before it filled in. Anyone with similar experience switching brands?

I am also looking if I can get my hands on dutasteride now. I hate losing hair and it makes me miserable and destroys the joy in my life. Would love it if I did not give a sh*t, but that is not me unfortunately. Anyone been in the same boat? Wait for 6 months with Proscar or just switch to dutasteride right away?
