I am completely new here although I have been reading the existing posts for about three weeks.

I am just starting to show signs of losing hair and I would appreciate some input.

I am currently on oral dutasteride instead of finasteride due to the research showing dutasteride being so much more effective. There have been no sexual side effects. This is the typical .5mg a day doses and some studies show much higher doses.

I am using the Nizoral shampoo 3 times a week for the Ketoconazole content. I let it soak in about 5 minutes and wash off.

I am using Lipogaine for minoxidil plus other topical DHT Fighters (herbal).

So this is the big-3 I have read about; unfortunately, this forum as well as the internet has also said a few contradictory statements leaving me to have the following questions:
1. should I use promox hairgrowth for minoxidil which also adds some finasteride topically. this would be a proven DHT fighter vs the herbs beign used in Lipogain. This would also up the minoxidil to 10% from 5%.

2. Does Ketoconazole backfire and sometimes cause hair loss? are there recommendations on using it properly? are there other scalp cleaning routines that are better?

3. The studies show dutasteride to be so effective but I see most people are still taking finasteride - is there a reason for this?

Is there anything else that is very favorable that a lot of the people keeping their hair are doing?

2. Not that I've heard of, keto has been great for me and I suffer from DPA.
3. Dutasteride is more effective because it inhibits more DHT thus might lead to more/stronger side effects. Most people that only require maintenance do not need some as strong. You can always swap from finasteride to Duta if it ain't strong enough.
