so here's my story.
I'm currently 19 years old and sufferin from male pattern baldness since last year, well, maybe even since I was 16, I remember comments on my temples back then
("you got already some big corners in your hairline dude")
I also remember my father as always being bald and me always wanting to touch his bald spot when I was a small boy but he never let me.
"one day you'll be as bald a me, son"
"hihi, never"
"yes you will! Your Grandpa was bald too, I'm bald and you will lose hair"
12 years later im sitting at my barber shop and gettin a hair cut from a young woman.
"your hair is gettin thin in the back. You also lose in the temple area"
I freaked out. 18 years. The prophecy of my father coming true. I looked at the mirror. It was true. No bald spot yet but definately thinning going on there. My father was Norwood 4 at the age of 25. I'm now a Norwood 2 and will go the same road as he went. Panic set in. Paranoia.
Rushed to the derm, he informed me, he himself was a Norwood 7. He talked about DHT and Propecia and that it's expensive and wasn't paid by insurance. He said it'll cost 50$/month.
I talked to my father. 50 $ was a lot but he understood me. Told me about himself sitting in the bathtub crying because the water was not going out because of all his hairs. Told me about the 70s when long hair was a must.
How he drove to a clinic and they could do nothing for him.
So I informed me in the internet and heard about proscar. seemed reasonable to me. 5 mg pill that only costs about the same but lasts 4 times longer when spilit into quarters.

Ordered proscar and split the first 14 pills.
I'm now 3 months into treatment and can't say much. Some days I think my hair has improved, some days that it is still the same, some days that it is worse, your mind can play unbelievable tricks on you, trust me!
Im going to take pics with a digi cam once and for all so that I can stop rushing to the mirror all the time.
With my second load of proscar I will also only cut 1 pill at the same time, I fear that cuttin 14 pills and storing the crushed pieces over weeks can maybe reduce the effect of the stuff.
So there are at least 9 months to come, maybe 13 or maybe even 17 months before I can see a real result.
If my spot in the vertex is noticeably going thinner I will add minoxidil to my regimen. If that doesn't help I'll add nizoral and Xandrox. So I'm looking forward and I know that I still have some aces up in my sleeve
