minoxidil cross contamination?

Hi All,

I'm just starting with minoxidil and I have a couple concerns with "cross contamination", so to speak. I've looked around for answers without much luck.

1. How crazy do I need to get about washing my hands after touching minoxidil/my hair after application?

2. Do you have a good way to get a full coverage of minoxidil to the scalp without touching it?

3. I shower in the morning then apply. After work, I like to work out. Do I have to worry about sweaty runoff causing unwanted hair growth on my face and back? I also worry about rolling my face into a minoxidil covered pillow at night. Aka.. is there a point in time where the applied minoxidil wares out? I shower after my workout, but don't like to shampoo for a second time in one day. Is a good rinse before the next application sufficient?

4. What can you tell me about using Rogaine Foam in the morning and then solution at night? Have you heard of successes/failures with this strategy?

Thank you all!

I do not know what you mean about cross-contamination but do you really mean a side effect of overuse? Meaning excess hair growth in other parts of the body? If so, this can happen. I had this when I applied alot of minoxidil in the temple and my ear lobes grew alot of faint dark hairs. Very light but can be noticeable.

(1) Simple standard wash with soap and water is enough.
(2) Not possible. You need to gently massage it in - note not rub! Apply in small amounts. Don't pour 1ml straight onto the head. Drop by drop is the best.
(3) Nothing to worry about. Anything applied onto scalp will be absorbed fully in the first hour. If you want, you can just wash it off with a towel after 3 hours. If you are worried about this, before going to the gym, just run your head under the shower.
(4) No difference. Both contain the same percentage of minoxidil. The difference here is that the foam has better absorbance and is mean't to penetrate the scalp / skin much better, hence, better absorption.
