minoxidil - Same dosage forever?

So I know I can't ever suddenly come off Minoxidil, because it can cause my hair follicles damage.

I know I can't stop Minoxidil at all, because I'll lose my hair within months.

But can you ever slow down dosage to every other day or every third day maybe? Presume that a) your hair has grown back, b) you've been on nizoral and finasteride, and will continue to be.

Do I have to use it every day, forever? If so, I'm afraid to start at all.

Edit: Sorry about the second question for this forum. :p I should have edited it into the other topic.

Where'd you get THAT idea? Hair counts and weights may actually drop below those of placebo users for a while after you stop using topical minoxidil, but the best available medical evidence indicates that the effect is just temporary. After a while (six months or so), it gets back to the way it would have been, had you never used minoxidil at all.

The only hair you will lose (permanently) when you stop minoxidil are the hairs that minoxidil is keeping alive.

All of the hairs that are still doing fine and all those regrew by finasteride will continue to thrive. Some speculation abounds on whether or not some minoxidil hairs will continue to live as long as you're taking finasteride, but that seems anecdotal at this point.

That's encouraging, but do I have to continuously use it every day forever? Can I cut down to every other day, or three-four times a week?

As far as I know the minimum anyone has kept results with minoxidil is consistent 1 time per day, which is what I'm doing before bed every night.
