Ok guys.
First use on minoxidill foam 5% - 06/06/2018
Today - 08/21/2018

2.5 months progress.

Facts:
Nothing have changed..
I didn't expect any hairline regrowth because they say it's not for the hairline, but I expected at least a little bit improvement at the crown.. and it even got worse.

I have strong balding genes.. not from my dad (he's 50 and not losing hair at all fml), but from my uncle. (mom's brother). he went nw2 at 21 and nw3 at 23 and 25 full shave.

i'm 22 and a half and i'm going his way.

I'm trying to delay the Propecia/fina as much as I can because I believed that because i'm still young and still in an early stage I can save myself with only minoxidill but now I don't think I can pull it off.. I think my balding genes are stronger than the minoxidill.. or maybe I should give it a little bit more time.. i'm afraid i'm gonna late and gonna lose too much hair before i'll realize that fina is my only hope.

But i'm so afraid of it + I'm saving money right now so I don't wanna waste 250$ every year on fina.
My Doctor told me i'm nw2 (imo i'm nw3-3.5) and that we'll consider Propecia in 3-4 months of minoxidil use to see if i'm a good responder.

So this is before the treatment, a picture of my wet crown from March + 2 pictures from May:

I see no change neither in the hairline and nor in the crown. I have no side effects at all, the hair keeps falling in the shower/whenever I touch it, I did not experienced any "hardcore" shade but I also don't know how to determine if it's hardcore shade or not because i'm always losing hair [a lot] (also before the treatment).

So.. what do you think guys?

cliffs:
- using minoxidil for almost 3 months
- no change at all
- I even think that my crown is losing more hair than before

as I said I believed that I can be saved with minoxidil only due to my young age + early stage, and maybe I still can.
I have nothing against propecia bro but I'm against the approach that you should use propecia as your first treatment..

In my opinion, you can use lots of things before that if you catch it early.
Propecia has lots of sides that I don't wanna experience, so I wouldn't and shouldn't recommend it as first treatment to any 20 years old guy who experience hair loss

dude im 19 and on finasteride already. you have aggressive hairloss and minoxidil doesn't address the actual cause of hairloss.

you need to get on finasteride before its too late

edit: if you don't want to get on finasteride you're just gonna have to give minoxidil more time I guess. but don't expect too much since you're not using a dht blocker tbh

Dude try finasteride, if you get sides you can stop.
If you don’t, you can save your hair.
You guys make a big deal out of it.

i've seen too many people regretting not jumping on the big 3 earlier, that includes myself. I've also been against recommending people taking pills because this should be a decision you make alone.

you need to look at this rationally and ask yourself whether you are okay with a shaved head when you are 25. if hair loss bothers you now, trust me on this, it will still bother you when you are 30. a lot of people just think their future self won't care as much once they reach a certain age.

Millions of people use finasteride and only the ones that get side effects would linger on forums looking for help. I think you should see a couple specialists first for your hair loss. the pattern you have is a classic male pattern baldness though.

if you decide to get on finasteride, read and research on placebo effects and how powerful it is. your mind is only going to focus on the negative, scary things you read on the internet.

if you think shaving your head is no big deal, then good for you. because once you start treatment you probably will be a slave to your hair for many many years to come like so many members here on this forum.

Hey thanks .
Do you think, by looking at my photos, that miboxidil can save me if I'll give it few more months?

How much time should pass till I will see any results?

you are 22.. sorry but here is a long post:

nobody can tell you for sure man. everybody responds so differently to medication and all of our balding genes can vary so much.
will you be reassured if i told you that minoxidil will definitely be enough to save you? i hope not..

if you want my opinion, your hair loss is aggressive for your age and minoxidil is already limited on many aspects when it comes to mildly aggressive hair loss. i think it will make a difference but you probably will still lose your hair slowly but surely. Minoxidil promotes blood flow which causes your hair to grow faster. but it does not get to the root cause of male pattern baldness, which is a DHT sensitive scalp.

I'm on the big 3, meaning i'm taking finasteride. and the main reason i'm still on this site even though i've had good regrowth is to see if i can encourage younger sufferers / lower Norwood to get on treatment. don't get me wrong, i would never tell you to start taking pills because it's YOUR body. but i feel like more people are on here talking about side effects than people who have had good results, since these people have most likely moved on with their life. i just want to contribute. I wish i could go back and start treatment earlier

I've always said this, there are 2 logical options to tackle the horrible effects hair loss have on us:
1) tackle hair loss with treatment and go at it with everything you've got
2) accept your genetics and live a happy life despite your hair loss
to not do any of the above is to willingly accept years of misery and depression, not willing to move on. let's face it, the worst possible situation from balding isn't being completely bald, but that constant suffering fro depression and insecurity WHILE you are balding for years and years.

make your own decisions and stick with it man. give minoxidil a few more months..or not. jump on finasteride or not. your call!

Damn it's harsh to see the truth in front of you.. the words "your hair loss is aggressive for your age" killed me.. I tried to deny it. Damn. Is it really that bad?

It’s actually not that bad now man, but having a diffused head like yours (I’m also pretty diffused) at age 22 is premature balding however you look at it. I’m talking about 2 – 5 years down the line.

Hey man I get it. I know the feeling when someone talks about your hair loss in your face even though I’m doing it over the internet. I know exactly how it feels, it was so shitty my ears turned red and I wanted to hide myself in my room and never come out.

there are members here who started balding when they were 15 and become a nw6 when they are 20, slick bald! you aren't the worst case out there. but you said so yourself, your dad had to shave it when he was 25.

IMO a guy can still be in his prime at age 45 and rocking a horseshoe or a combover isn't going to cut it for most. Today is as young as you will ever be bro, act now or accept it. Putting it off won’t do you any good

I agree with the general consensus that you need to get on Finasteride to address the cause of hair loss, assuming you don’t get significant sides from it.

That said, I started Minoxidil in early June 2013 and I didn’t see noticeable regrowth until late September / October 2013. If you stick it out a few more months you could see good results. 2.5 months isn’t enough time

I am in a similiar situation as you at 21 man. Please dont try to make this a smaller thing than it is bro, you arent in the early stages of balding. The truth is people can already tell that you are balding. Either get on finasteride or accept that you will be bald in the next 2-3 years. And even getting on finasteride doesnt guarantee anything, I am still balding agressively on finasteride but it is the best chance we have.

Good luck bro

Sorry am I missing something? Your hair looks much better (the crown).

I understand your hesitation about Finasteride and it is fine to not want to use it. In my family my dad and both grandfathers went bald but my mom's four brothers had hair into their 60s. I got my genes tested and it was indicated I have a male pattern baldness gene on one allele and none on the other so do not have a high risk. However I did thin out and Minoxidil alone helped but when I started to see some frontal recession I just bit the bullet.

You can use low dose Finasteride, topical Finasteride, LLLT, caffeine shampoo, Nizoral as options but with hair line recession I would not just depend on Minoxidil.

You are golden bro. Do my regimen and I promise you, you will get 100 percent of your hair back.

Finasteride. No side effects at all.
Minoxidil morning and night. Plus .5 dermapen for absorbtion every morning. 1.5 mm dermapen once a week.

I take Sawpalmetto(blocks dht), Pygeum(blocks dht), biotin. Coconut oil+cayenne pepper oil mixture every day or other day for 30 minutes or more.(cayenne blocks cannibinoids from marijuana use, which can cause hair loss. And it stimulates new hair growth).

I use an inversion table about 15 to 30 minutes a day spread out in like 5 minute increments.

I massage coconut oil with a brush on my scalp for around 10 minutes a day or other day. Brush or fingertips. Doesnt matter.
Also I do fingernail rubbing around 10 minutes a day throughout the day.(stimulates the hair follicles).
