Wow! I foresee some good results with that strip. I have a similar hair loss pattern, and am considering doing a strip with h&w. If you don't consider it rude to ask, how much did this cost?

Are u still on meds? How much was the surgery

I am on propecia 1mg per day and rogaine foam twice a day plus a plethora of vitamins that I take daily (as per Rahals Post Op instructions)

The Surgery was no-where near as bad as I thought it would be with regards to pain - its more nerves than anything else!

I had it done on the 28th June and I am still experiencing redness / numbness in my recipient area along with some itching at my donor area - the donor area has not 100% healed and I still have some very small scabs in places.

What is strange is that the hair at the back of my head (just next to the recipient area) can itch like crazy sometimes and the hairs that were never touched can feel like they are tiny pins poking into my head - its not unbearable but clearly there are nerve issues there.

Currently, it looks terrible - which is obviously unavoidable but something everyone needs to understand / accept before they start this process. I think of the long term gains and that is the all important factor.

Due to all the transplanted hair having fell out and the redness etc I am lucky I work in an environment where I can wear a hat daily - the only time I have to take it off is twice a month when I head to the airport.

I will post up pictures of what it looks like now so people can see the ugly duckling phase (will try and get this done later today).

What I find nice is that before I had the hair transplant I would hide my hair as much as possible, I became a ninja with cabooki and nanogen (toppix alternative) and even my long term girlfriend was shocked when I showed her the before pictures because she never saw it as bad as it was - exhausting to keep that pretense going!

Now I just tell people, especially guys who are experiencing hair loss.

If I had known about propecia years ago there's a chance I wouldn't have had to do this so now I tell pretty much everyone I know and instead of judging or making a joke out of it (I work in an environment where that sort of humour is crucial to carrying out the job) they are taking the info and using it for themselves. I've been back at work for under 2 weeks and already lots of guys are booking appointments with their docs to be prescribed propecia.

I suspect more than a few of them will go down the hair transplant route based on my results.

As for pricing, I initially contacted Matt (Rahals patient advisor) back in 2011 and the price they quoted me then was a fair bit cheaper then it is now - luckily for me they honored that pricing. As their pricing has changed I don't know if it would be right of me to disclose the cost (especially when I hope to get the back filled in there!)

I will ask Matt to read this post and hopefully he will comment.

Pics

Not the best but you can see growth,

I'm looking forward to the next few months to see the rest start to come in and then hopefully go back to have the crown area filled in one I have a good hairline etc

Scar is showing because I cut my own hair and did it too short....

Well

Its quite something to see an actual hairline forming!

Excuse the weird face I am making - makes my eyes look un-level haha

I will keep posting photos - just shaved it down to a 4-5 and I can't see my scar, when its grown out again in the next 2 weeks I will post some more.

you definately fall into the "good candidate for hair transplant" category...you'll have full head no problem but I would think your next one will be FUE...I wouldn't go strip-scar again if I were you...

Sparx4444

Was that aimed at me?

Not sure if FUE will be able to resolve my crown area as its rather large.

I will post some more pics in the next 20 days when my hair has grown a bit, slightly worried that my left temple seems to have filled in whereas the right hasn't

However, can't really make that comment until its been a year!

yeah...my concern is the extent of scarring you'll have with another FUT...IMHO, I would sacrifice a bit of density on my crown in order to avoid more butchering of your donor area with strip-scarring....also, a new FUE method is coming out soon that will give better gains over standard FUE --- I would wait that out....in the meantime, I think you'lre going great guns here....it wouldn't bother me to live with crown balding for a while if I have my frontal and top areas licked like you now have

4 month update

Ok so here are some pics with the initial pre-op pics to compare against

one side isn't growing in as fast but I'm sure it will catch up, one thing I have noticed is that the transplanted hairs on my left side will not lay flat and grow upwards - hopefully that doesn't continue as it gets longer ha!

One thing I will say, since having the hair transplant I am happy to discuss my hair with anyone - its very weird but I tell people all the time and did the moment I got to work even though in my job I can wear a hat all day. Sometimes I actually find my self taking it off and working without it for a while!

After 4 months I don't believe anyone could tell I have had an hair transplant

if your first post (with the hairs still in the transplanted follicles) are any sign of what`s to come, you should be expecting some nice results! TBH, you could pull off the shaved head easily as well.

You mean before I had a 30cm + cut done into the back of my head ! :)

I am hopeful that I will see a constant improvement over the coming months

Im in the market and the quotes I get are SO varied.

The fact that you've maintained that frontal patch is HUGE for you ....it may sound weird, but if you're going to lose your hair, you're losing it the best way possible
