My hairline definitely needs to come down.

I'd say close to 1/2 inch in the corners.

Jayman says I should grow more hair with dutasteride so I have more donor hair, and then do a big transplant to the front of my head. Yeah, that would be about $20,000 to get the number of grafts I need. Maybe $40,000 if I go FUE and do the density I want for one session. Or I can pay $200 for a hairpiece I can get right away, and can alter the hairline as I see fit.

I lost enough density on my sides. I'm not going to take more density from that area to move up front.

can the best hair transplant give you an 70-80% density? I don't think so. Takes so much time and money too. I think if people could get over their aversion to hair pieces and 'do a lot work' most would go for wearing hair rather than a transplant. Another thing is people always talk about medical procedures getting better all the time- well how about hair pieces getting better and better? I bet the best hair pieces will look better than any medical procedure for a long time to come.

I read that most people can donate 4,000 to 8,000 hairs without thinning out their hair in back. With FUE, you could take more from other area, assuming those areas don't go bald too, and the extraction does not cause any shock loss.

I've already used 4,000 grafts. To get to 2/3 the density of my top hair, I'd need another 4,000 grafts. I think that would max out my donor area. In fact, Dr Keene says I don't have the elasticity to do a lot more with strip. So I could get Fue scars in addition.

But lets look at the cost:
For low density FUE, I might be able to get as low as $5-6 per graft, if I do it on a date that is convenient for the surgeon. For strip, $3 min, but $4 to guarantee the best procedure.

So probably $16,000. A $200 piece would last 3 months easy. So $800 per year. So 20 years not counting interest. And pieces will just get cheaper and better. And when I get HM if it comes, I'll have the money, and not have to fill in the back.
