My main reason for not taking finasteride.

I don't know if this would go here or on that other forum so I apologize in advance.

So I have been contemplating finasteride for the past 2 months. My hairline has receded a centimeter or two (more on the temples) and my crown area doesn't seem to be getting better with the Rogaine I've been using. Then again, I have only been using Rogaine for 2 months and a week so I have to wait for results I imagine. Anyways, I've grown out my hair so it kind of looks like I'm a NW1. I do comb overs using the hairs from the sides of my head and the center of my head to make bangs. I've come to realize that I can't do this forever and I will have to cut my hair eventually.

Anyways, I've been wanting to take finasteride but I'm afraid it won't work. The reason why I say this is because I am not "well-endowed" down below. I'm afraid that the side effects might make that part of me worse. Do you think that there is a correlation between penis size and the effects of finasteride?

Absolutely no correlation whatsoever. Also, sides effects are rare, and in 99% of the cases they go away in 3 months or less.

If you have male pattern baldness, then Rogain isn't going to do hardly anything for you. It's pretty much finasteride, or be ready to shave it sooner or later :-/

I was scared ****less of the sides when I first started too, but to be honest I'm having the reverse effect. One poster on another forum described that because finasteride can increase T levels occasionally your sex drive goes up. For me that was the case.

I'm actually a little worried that the stuff isnt actually working!! I got a girl and need her 24/7, getting laid is my life now -- it wasn't all that much a priority before finasteride.

For every "horror story" there are 100+ success or "no side effects" stories. The reason you don't know about them is because...why would you post about something if nothing adverse happened?

Lets not forget, the placebo group got at least half as many sexual side-effects... In one of the studies, 75% as many people were actually discontinuing the drug because of "side effects", not knowing they actually had the placebo. I doubt that after 7 years suddenly your sex drive gets broken, it just makes no sense. The same IMO goes for people that were off finasteride for several months and suddenly they get side-effects and blame it... Its kinda reminds me of the whole roaccutane scare that apparently was going on, when actual studies showed decreased rates of depression etc... I really informed myself the last few weeks. I see most of the side-effects debunked in actual studies, so the majority of people will be fine. Not saying sides can't happen in rare cases.

your body is not a computer, that's not because you remove a software or treatment that it will never induce issues later...
play with hormones is not a safe game and having sides effect after 7 years is not "weird"
Again, I'm not saying sides don't happen... They do. But they do also happen in the placebo group, at least 50% as often. Thats why no one can (reliably) blame any drug he is taking for side-effects, this can only be established in trials with more then one patient.

I feared for my life before starting finasteride too. I started taking it in very, very small amounts, because I hypothesized that if I do it gradually, it won't shock my system. The first week or two I thought I had sides, but again, I was really scared before hand. I'm about a month and a half into finasteride and I've got no side effects anymore. I'm almost scared that it's not working. I haven't noticed any change down below.

Holy CHRIST you are a hypochondriac. Stop worrying about EVERYTHING!!!

"Oh no, I don't want to do finasteride because I might get side effects!!"

"Oh no, I don't have side effects...maybe it's not working!!!!"

Your mind needs a break.

First your size makes no difference to anything. Secondly I can understand some guys taking finasteride, but its hard to imagine over many years your not still going to lose hair anyways. Its also hard to believe any good is going to come from removing a powerful male hormone for many years. Its just a dangerous game to play and no one knows what it does that is just a fact. Yes life is full of risks but is taking one for hair worth it? Everyone has to answer that for themselves. I choose no.

I started balding at around 19. My mind sees no rest. Thought you'd understand.

finasteride does maintain your hair, after 10 years 85% of people taking finasteride are at least not worse then when they started...
