My psychiatrist recommended that I use lithium to improve my mood swings, it scares me that it could make my fall worse, any experience? 225mg

Hello, well I am 28 years old, I have been with fines and minoxidil for almost 10 years, now 5mg oral, also ketoconazole and other various things, my hair has worsened the same, the crown area, well, I have always had mood problems and others problems, so when I told my symptoms and emotions, etc., the psychiatrist told me that lithium was going to change my life, I left the consultation happy, but obviously I was going to google if it caused a fall, and indeed it seems to cause a fall, So now I don't know if to use it, someone who has used it? I think the dose is still low, any experience works, thank you very much in advance

So you are on finasteride, 5 mg oral minoxidil and ketoconazole and still losing hair? Add maybe microneedling to your regime. About lithium it does not cause hairloss per se, it actually might be some small benefits for hair (lithium itself) but in LARGER doses it can cause hypoTHYROIDS and hyperPARATHYROIDSM which both can cause hairloss (shedding/telogen effluvium). What the dose of lithium he prescribe and in what form? carbonate?

You can try lithium although I'm not a doctor I think that dose is rather low of what psychiatris used so small chance of sides. Did your doctor measue your TSH (or other thyroid related hormons) in blood? beacuse as I said before, HYPOthyroidism is main reason for people shedding after lithium. Did you take any other supplements? For likely small or moderate improvment of your hair and mood I would also recommend to add some vitamin d3 (2000-4000 IU) and omega3 with EPA AT LEAST 60%(or more so DHA is 40% or less) with dosage around 0.5-1 gram of EPA.
