Hey guys,

Well I dont know really where to start I'd post pics my but my camera is not working atm so I'll give breif description.

Always had a high hairline since I was born. Im VERY Self concious and go through stages where there will be something i'll be constant paranoid on when usually there is nothing wrong with me.

I've never really been bothered about my hair though, my hairline was abit higher than usual but there was nothing I could do about it, recently though I've been looking at my hair line to monitor it as im 21 and looking the right side of my head the line of the hair is different the other left side? when i think back to when i had short hair they where both different back then aswell but i've noticed my right temple is I wouldnt say higher but wider than the left one about a NW1.5/2 while the leftone is a NW1/1.5 looking back on pictures and once again when i think back the right side has been abit worst when combing my hair to the side, I've looked and on the right side there appears to be a quite a few little white hairs growing about 2ML lower than where that hairline is which would honestly even the way my hairline looks. My left side has always been my better side of hair lol.

Is it naturel to have a NW1 on one side and a 1.5 on the other? Genetically or could I just be getting my mature hairline and the other one will soon follow. Like I said i THINK it's always been like that.

I've read on forums like this catch it early so I went to my dr's today for advice (hes a massive c*** btw) and he noticed it aswell and said I'd have to pay for either hair transplants or for the tablets my self but I've got a mild case of Gynecomastia which as recently got worse over the last 8months and he said it would make that worste and theres nothing the NHS will do about it even tho it gives me agonising stabbing pain... so Im in two boats.. do I pay for the treatment myself and risk the chance of getting a massive lump under my nipple or just see how it plays out and try and forgot?

Just reread everything I wrote and was wondering could the the Gynecomastia increase I experianced a few months ago have a part in last cycle of my hair growth? as the white hairs around the bad side arnt going and when I check everyday they are looking bigger and stronger literly like ive had a hairtransplant.

I just searched on google images and found this picture of a guy whos about a nw2? but after closely looking his right temple looks wider and sharper than the other like myne just imagine him being a nw1-1.5.

I guess im just looking for some advise or someone to ease my mind... thanks to everyone who read this! and gl with all your progress.

My right temple has always been higher than the left. This is really common, I've even made a post about asking why this happen. It's very rare to see someone with the left higher. Even woman's hairline tend to be higher on the right side.

Welcome to the boards,

I always try and work out where someone's from as soon as i read

(hes a massive c*** btw)

I knew you were from the UK :), right first things first, when your doctor says you'll have to pay for your treatment he's completely right, propecia is not available on the NHS, you get a private prescription (normally from your GP) and then pay for the full cost of the tablets, which is £42.50 a month from boots.

There are cheaper ways of getting hold of the key ingredient, but hold on ......

I don't normally offer medical advice, but don't even dream of touching propecia, if your suffering from Gynecomastia, it will increase the Estrogen in your body and make things worse, I'm also shocked that the doctor won't take this condition seriously.

IMO it's time for you to start doing a lot of reading, this place is a great place to start, try doing a search for 'topical dht inhibitors' these are designed to go directly on the head and have far fewer side effects than propecia, the downside is they take a lot of effort to apply and the currently available ones are not proven to be as effective as propecia, but in many cases they do have some effects.

I'd also look at trying to reduce (not eliminate) something called aromatase, this converts testosterone to estrogen in the body, if you have a beer belly time to shed it and possibly supplement with zinc for a while.

Good luck with early planning you can beat these problems.

<<edit to add >>

there are also two other 'proven' treatments for treating hairlosee, nizoral and minoxidil, check out these forums for loads of info on them.

Thanks for the post guys!

Sandy, you've just made my mind at ease as im about to go out it's hard to talk about these things with my mate without looking like an idiot so if most people have a higher right temple then it doesnt mean i've defintly got male pattern baldness.

sir chugalot, I'll defintly do the research and thanks for the long informative post. When I went today he told me that I tried to address the problem 8years ago! next month and I can remember the the dr told me then that it would be gone in a few years... and literly when i mean the dr said it was basically nothing thats what he said quoting "theres nothing you can do unless you have 10grand to fork out for private health care" my freind who also suffors from gyno told me his dr's wanted blood samples to check his hormone lvls etc so im defintly going to swap dr's.

I've got a full head of healthy hair, it's not the juvinile hairline i once had but i've had a slight widows peak since I was born and a high hairline its not the greatest of combos!! My mums brother is a NW4/5 but my dad who is 45 is a NW2 so I was just preparing for it to hit me...

Just to put your mind at rest a bit, my hairline has always been high. had right side higher since I was born.

However, look at the right temple of Depp, Dicaprio, all right side higher
