natural alternatives?

are there any? i know the board concensus on saw palmetto, so i'm not even asking about that. but i'm very, very leery of going the finasteride/dutasteride route and would really prefer some kind of natural alternative. i posted once about this hideously expensive stuff called 'hairborn' that seems to work well but no one responded (probably due to the prohibitive cost). i still have no idea what's in it (they're pretty vague about it on their website), but i emailed one of the doctors involved to find out.

i know there is widespread skepticism around here (and for good reason) but i do believe that there are other, safer ways to address hair loss. especially for someone like me, because i'm really more concerned with maintenance and very slight regrowth than anything else.

forgive me if i'm retreading old stuff here. once again, this is NOT a 'so what do you guys think about saw palmetto?' post. just looking to keep this pursuit as natural as possible, because i'm only 25 and will probably be concerned with keeping all my hair (i'm a horribly vain motherfucker) until we get a gene cure. thanks.

~ Revivogen or ZIX are both natural treatments.

They're the only ones that come to mind. I've heard of something called EQUOL - but I'm not sure what it is - I do think it's also a natural treatment though.

Just because something is "natural" doesnt mean it is safer or has less potential for side effects than the "proven" treatments.

Some herbs etc are powerful and should also be treated with care.

Also, while many people use things like Zix in the majority of cases they are only in addition to either finasteride or minoxidil.

If you are going to rely on natural only treatments for your hair loss you should be prepared to lose your hair.

I tried the non-finasteride route for almost 1 year. I was hoping to fall into something besides finasteride that would work for me.

I'd have loved to be part of that 1 - 4% (figures are from no-where) that actualy do respond well to natural treatments. You know the people I'm talking about:

~ This herbal shampoo cured my hairloss;
~ ZIX regrew all my hair;
~ Nizoral is god;
~ Viviscal and Revivogen regrew my hair;

You'll never know what you respond favorably to unless and until you try. I hate the thought of being back on finasteride - but at my reduced dosage it's so far so good as far as the negative sides are concerned.

I think if you are bent on natural remedies, you should focus on topicals rather than edibles.

It takes a lot to get so much effect that it reaches your hair follicles(which are rather starved for blood anyway).

I think as far as edibles go, saw palmetto best matches finasteride, but any results are in vitro. Really no proof on living persons.

Good for you, Comfry!

I have also achieved awesome results with my own topical regimen.

Essential oils.

1) Borage seed oil 2) Rosemary 3) Lavender 4) cedarwood in a base of emu oil. My shed stopped and I am getting some regrowth.
