Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum but I often follow the new treatment section. I would like to have your opinion on my situation, I started taking minoxidil 5% last year but there is always a hair loss, I would like to have the feedback of finasteride users to know if this medicine is really worth it and if they did not have side effects. Thanks in advance

Ps I'm 20 and I must be Norwood 2.5

Short answer is Finasteride, like any drug, comes with side effects. Not everyone experiences the same side effects. Each man must try it for himself and then decide for himself if the benefits outweigh the costs.

This forum has 15+ years of Finasteride feedback. Some guys have been taking it for 20+ yrs. Spend some time to search and read through this forum and all your questions will be answered. Everything has been discussed ad nauseum. Good luck.

Topical minoxidil does not work for everyone. You must have an active SULT1A1 enzyme to get the desire effects. Your body might lack of that enzyme thus you will not benefit from topical minoxidil. There are only two things you can do, either use topical minoxidil alongside tretinoin or take oral minoxidil(it can have nasty side effects but it is rare at low dosages).

About Finasteride, of course it can produce side effects, but of all drugs we have right now, it has the best safety profile. All that said, you can use low dosage of topical finasteride to reduce side effects(you can still get them because it goes systemic) and see how your body respond. Anyways topical finas seems to reduce more scalp DHT than oral, and that's where you want to aim.

Thank you for your answers, I had already searched the forum but between those who say that finasteride is the drug to take and those who say that it ruins a life, you will understand my concern. Thanks again to you both!
