Need some advice - bit of a conundrum

Okay, here's the dilemma - I was on Finesteride for 17 months w/ virtually no improvement. If anything, my hair got significantly worse than before I started finasteride. Anyhow, at month 17 I added 5% minoxidil once a day. 6 to 8 weeks after starting minoxidil, I thought that my hair had improved and shedding had decreased and so I stopped taking finasteride.

However, by month 5 on minoxidil, and about 3 months off of finasteride, it seemed as if my hair was getting worse again. I decided to add finasteride again only to start massive shedding (I know everyone says to ride it out) - this is the same kind of massive shedding that I went through when I first started finasteride and it never really did stop while I was on finasteride until I added minoxidil.

I have stopped taking finasteride for a second time but am still shedding. What should I do now? Should I start finasteride again and give it a chance in conjunction w/ the minoxidil knowing full well that it didn't do anything the first time other than cause shedding that never really ceased? Or should I try my luck w/ spironolactone?

I'm not sure if I am shedding (I'm talking 70-100 hairs a day) b/c I re-started the finasteride or b/c of stopping the finasteride for the first time and this is that post finasteride 5 month shed. Does any of this even make any sense?

Two words. Big Three. Thats minoxidil, finasteride and Nizoral shampoo.
The reason why your hair started getting worse again was probably because you dropped the finasteride shortly after you started minoxidil. You may have been suffering a 'withdrawl shed' after stopping finasteride, while at the same time, suffering a 'introduction shed' when starting the minoxidil. Maybe you should try them all at once along with Nizoral and see what happens then. Don't keep changing from one to the other cuz your body probably doesnt know what the hell is going on!
