Jesus, Accutane, isotretinoin is an Anti 5-alpha-reductase like Finasteride and Dutasteride. Stop the stupidity .

What does this mean for me? Does this mean that my hair loss definitely isn’t male pattern baldness? My temples like I say, haven’t receded at all.

You could have extremly bad luck and could be telogen effluvium, will be extremly weird since you used a low dose. But , I strongly suggest you to check if father, grandfather, etc, start to bald young. Cause , in many case, what it happen, is that accutane is actually stoping male pattern baldness, and once it is stoped, after a month or so ( not during ) people see hair loss. Like if you was using minoxidil or finasteride, and then you stop it, if you have male pattern baldness, it will start to fall .
Again, could be just telogem effluvium, if is that, it should regrowth alone. Again, it is not like you was using 120mg daily for 4 month. Even, so , 60, for my opinion, it is two much. Best is to use 10 to 20mg for long period of time. The high dose is old school ( 90s ) .
I have no way to find out. My parents on both sides don’t get along with their families, and all of my grandfathers are dead and I never met either of them. I have no way of finding out. My father told me he lost his hair at age 30 starting from the temples. Me personally I don’t understand what the fucj is going on man. I would just hop on finasteride but it’s not worth it if it’s just Telogen Effluvium. god damn this is so mf confusing bro. I don’t want to be bald as hell and all I had to do was take finasteride. I weigh 185 LB and took 60mg then 40 then 20.

Also, please keep in mind that Accutane can cause Vitamin B12 and folic acid deficiency. In fact, since we are in 2021 and this is well know it, the derm that gave you that dose without a vitamin B12 supplement plus folic acid ( if not ) he/she is an idiot.
Will not hurt to get a supplement of both .

This was actually my second course of accutane. It’s probably Telogen Effluvium then or I’m just balding. I wish I could know. What are male pattern baldness symptoms? Should I see miniaturization?

If you have male pattern baldness, it don't look like the common one, it look more like Telogen Etffluvium . If you want my advice, try the supplements I told you .

Yes, it’ll inhibit dht. But vitamin A can cause hair loss. Isotretinoin has documented cases of hair loss. Look up accutane balding. It may be that accutane is “uncovering” male pattern baldness, but I’ve seen people with no family history suffer the same diffuse hair loss with inflammation. Someone on this forum tried an immunomodulator and it thickened their hair after accutane caused hair loss. Clearly it’s not as simple as saying it’s just androgenic.
I wish it was androgenic, then I could just take topical dutasteride and live my life. But I barely have any family history balding and my dht and test are rock bottom already.
Dude so say what I have right now is diffuse male pattern balding triggered by accutane. By that logic wouldn’t all the hairs look a certain way? Like shouldn’t some of them be miniaturized? I think I looked at every single one of them and ALL OF THEM seemingly at least, pretty much all of them, have this little white tiny thing at the end. Does male pattern balding have that same thing?

If you’re shedding a bunch of small, weak hair strands with that white bulb it might be miniaturization. But Telogen Effluvium can have temporary miniaturization I think. It’s hard to say. But Telogen Effluvium gets better in maybe 6 months. Hell it can last a year or more too. I think the pull test helps with diagnosing it so ask a derm to take a look
Actually I think it’s not miniaturization now. Because with miniaturization, the hairs wouldn’t have just all of a sudden (weirdly 4 months after starting accutane, I already f*****g quit it), started shedding. And even more, the hairs that are being shed would be really f*****g tiny and thin looking. The hairs I’m shedding are my normal strong thick hairs. I’m in the military so that’s just the length of my hair, none of the hairs on my head are longer than 2 inches in length. From this I’ve just now started to think it’s telogen effluvium. If it was miniaturization the hairs would be hella tiny I assume. But I don’t know much about male pattern balding, especially not diffuse thinning. Where the f*** are the experts on this forum at?

I have zero way to tell if I should hop on finasteride right now or not. On top of this I don’t know if I should go to a derm because I don’t have a health insurance nor time as I am active duty military. I have no idea when my next day off is and can’t pay out of pocket to do all this sh*t. I don’t want to go through the military as they likely wouldn’t let me take the medication required. I want to self diagnose if I can here.

When you take Finasteride, you are inhibiting 70 % of a natural hormone that is in your body. You can't even do this with cholesterol without side effects. But it is even worst, cause it inhibit DHT by inhibiting 5-alpha reductase. Well, this enzime is need it into the organism not only to produce DHT, it is also produce :
- Cholestenone → 5α-Cholestanone
- Progesterone → 5α-Dihydroprogesterone
- 3α-Dihydroprogesterone → Allopregnanolone
- 3β-Dihydroprogesterone → Isopregnanolone
- Deoxycorticosterone → 5α-Dihydrodeoxycorticosterone
- Corticosterone → 5α-Dihydrocorticosterone
- Cortisol → 5α-Dihydrocortisol

What’s the safest way to try inhibiting DHT for hair loss with minimal sides? Could I try finasteride and the moment I notice side effects hop off?
