Hey all, that's me been shedding badly for 4 months now and safe to say my hair is starting to look like crap. I'm shedding all over my scalp but mostly the hairline. I lose over 100 hairs just by showering and drying in the morning, most of them are thick hairs too and none of them have grown back yet.
For those who don't know I'm using finasteride 1mg, oral minoxidil 10mg, topical estrogen 1mg and soon to be cyproterone acetate 25mg all daily.
My shed seemed to coincide with switching oral minoxidil brands and temporarily dropping finasteride.. I still have the crazy body hair growth going on so I'm thinking that maybe its not the oral minoxidil ( with this much shedding it really should be though ) and possibly the finasteride. Now the thinning has crept even closer into my forelock and has even began thinning at the center of my forelock! I have an absolutely horrible camera but I will upload some before shedding and after shedding pics on here so you all can see.
Is it normal to have a second shed last this long? My regrowth period only lasted 3 months so this shedding period has lasted longer..
What do I do guys? I'm hitting male pattern baldness with all I got and it ain't even slowing down.. Not one bit :\
Cyproterone is my second last hope..

By the way the first 3 pictures are just before I started shedding and the next 3 are right now. What do you guys think?

You're both crazy and desperate.
That's just your hairline as an adult...Get over it!
If you want to cover your temples consider a FUE and you're done for good.
Horror?...Really?...That's offensive for me.
There are people with real problem here, that live the real horror.

Are you dense? My hairline is noticeably thinner at the sides and has even receded a bit. Those pics were 4 months apart. I wish I still had photos of my hair a year and a half ago when I still had temple hair. Just because you're already noticeably balding doesn't give you any more right to be pissed off than I have. I may not be there yet but I'm getting there. Also seems like everything I've been doing hasn't been able to change that.
I'll give you the crazy and desperate bit, that much is true. The photos don't give a proper comparison given the quality but there is definitely still a difference. Maybe in 6 months ( if the cypro doesn't work out ) it will be blatantly obvious.

well, you're nuking the f*** out of your body and your scalp tissue, so I would definitely expect Telogen Effluvium to be kicking in right about now. Don't mean to scare you, but these are the facts.

I could handle Telogen Effluvium if I knew it would definitely grow back. I've not seen many users of hardcore regimens experience Telogen Effluvium, or at least none that have admitted it. I'd obviously rather not be using all these crazy drugs but it's really my only option right now.

I think the majority of people that use such extreme regimens experience Telogen Effluvium, they just don't acknowledge it. They consider it part of "the shedding phase". it only makes sense. I've encountered several people in real life who have experienced it in response to hormone changes, or other drastic physiological changes in the body, including myself. it's very common. I would get a small scalp biopsy man to put your mind at ease. It only grows back if you remove the trigger. if the trigger is finasteride, then you may encounter it a few times. in another respect, you may get it WHILE finasteride is working FOR you. it's a f*****g cluster f***. best thing is to get a thorough blood panel of your hormones and a scalp biopsy. once again, not trying to scare you, but if you look you'll find countless accounts of this happening to people.

but, your hair is honestly great. you have amazing density. It's hard to tell if that is receding or just a widows peak without pictures from previous years. do you think it's receded over time?

That's solid advice man, I've really been meaning to get some blood work done for a while now.. Infact I don't even know if finasteride is affecting my DHT! If things don't improve in the next few months I think I'll go pay the good doctor a visit.

Oh yea its definitely been receding slowly over the years. For some reason my hair looks better in pictures than in real life.. But I'm only 20 and should still be Norwood 1 instead of this awkward Norwood 2.25 :(

finasteride plummeted my DHT to below the normal range and my test went up over a hundred points... lost hair like a cancer patient, no joke. 50% gone in a year. diagnosed as Telogen Effluvium... don't know if it would have gotten better if I sticked with it, but I couldn't the scalp inflammation was too much. Two years later and I am still battling it. what a complicated f*****g drug man.

hope things work out for you. either way, you will still have good density when it's all said and done. I had less density than you, got Telogen Effluvium three times before My hair went to sh*t. the first couple and it wasn't even that bad. hang in there. new treatments are comning for sure.

a way to check is to shake your hair over the sink and analyze the root end... if a lot of the hairs have a prominent white bulb, it's a sign of Telogen Effluvium.

A lot of the fallen hairs DO have a prominent white bulb, like even a bit of the hair looks white above the root. but others do not. I would say its 50/50.
@Alex_325 thank you for the compliment but I use a thickening shampoo which literally doubles my density for the day. Its called Elvive Fibrology Shampoo. I also sometimes use a foam mousse for better definition.

You still have great density. Your high hairline and loss of temple points just make it seem way worse then it is. I think diffuse thinning is much worse.

At least your vertex hair is good.

On the plus side, looking older can help you save money with Geico Car Insurance.

Yea I would have to agree with the diffusion being the worst, thankfully that's not something that runs in my family. Just receding hairlines and thinning crowns. I'm hoping the cypro I'm waiting on will fix this problem but we will just have to wait and see.

@rclark I love saving me some money, shame I don't have a full driving license!

Is that true? My hair started shedding like crazy after switching a shampoo. Now my scalp smells and the shredded hair mostly had that while root at the end.
