I'm almost at one year on Dutasteride (taken Every day) and thought i would share my experience with side effects.
I'm using genuine Avodart on prescription.
Overall it's been a mind blowing positive experience for me (so far) and i hope it continues like this.
I'll bullet list it so that it's easier to see.
First month: 19 Years Old
- 'Extra Energy', Motivation to work out and learn some martial arts
- Loss of libido - Went from 3/4 times a day to 3/4 times a week
- Morning erections for first time in 4/5 years (age 19)
- No change to semen / Ability to get an erection
- Orgasms became much more intense, Volume of semen increased noticably
- 'Extra Energy' started to die down after first month.
Around 3 months: 20 Years Old
- One week of slight ball ache in right testicle, though i'm unsure if that's the dutasteride or because i trimmed the garden and it was growing back and just felt uncomfortable.
- Slight increase in shedding. Then;
- Massive shed... Minoxidil for 1 year + so far had worked wonders to thicken everything up, but now this was looking worse than pre-minoxidil times.
- Got my extra energy back and worked out for a solid month.
- Positive sexual side effects still remain, Libido starting to come back.
5 Months:
- Shedding seemed to have halted in it's tracks.
- Noticed that the vellous hairs on hairline seemed to be getting longer and more dense.
6 Months:
- Shedding definately halted.
- Density of hair seemed to be improving.
8 Months:
- Density is back, better than ever - Haven't had hair this dense since before i noticed i was losing any hair at all.
- Motivation improving again - Working out, Looking for a job, Planning a holiday, Holding head high.
10 Months:
- Libido is pretty much back to what it was before i started dutasteride.
- Orgasms still better than ever, No change to erections.
- First time i noticed my temples are slowwly filling in.
Now:
- Pre Dutasteride: Norwood 2 (Actually somewhere between 2 and 3, but closer to 2).
- During worst shedding while on Dutasteride: Obvious outline of Norwood 3 + Heavy diffuse thinning.
- Present time: Norwood 1.5, Left temple still has a very slight outline of Norwood 2, but is filled in to the 1.5 level with many short, dark hairs.
Consistent side effects throughout use:
There's only one and that's a Stomache Ache (feels more like a burn) if i don't take the pill around the time i have a meal.
It's slightly uncomfortable at worst.
IF I can find my old pictures from before i started, then i will get them up here... But they're on an old hard drive somewhere in a cupboard and i'd need to search through each to find them.
Will try and get some recent pics up soon.
