Today we lost a true hero, a man that sacraficed his life for the betterment of our own. This guy gave up a confortable life making millions to do what he thought was right. It sort of puts life in perspective, doesn't it? We all worry so much about many things, hair loss being one of them. Yet we forget sometimes about all the other wonderfull things that we have right in front of us. I'm not saying that I will now stop worrying, but I sure as hell am going to try to be a better person. Please reserve a moment of silence for a man who is a hero in the true meaning of the word.

Sincerely,
Tony

Please read this article and find out a little more about what he was all about. WHAT A hummmmbel man!

For once, could we have one of these were everyone is respectful and not turn it into politics?

He was indeed a true hero like everyone else that joined, to honestly help and wanted nothing in return. Giving up so much money proved that.

What a story. If there were ever a dictionary listing for the phrase "walking the talk" they ought to put Pat Tillman's picture next to it. Pretty much the definition of what it is to be a man.

And to second what Cassin said about politics... anyone who talks sh*t about a soldier can shove it up their *** and go to hell.

Wherever you are, Pat Tillman.... Thank you.

not to sully this fellas name or but don't you think there's a possibility that some soldiers are in it for the guts and glory? being a soldier can be a mighty romantic notion don't you think?

It does't correct the fact that he went over to kill innocent people, does it?

Are you saying that the people who committed the 9/11 attacks are innocent? We went into Afghanistan to take out the Al Qaeda operations there and to overthrow the government who willingly hosted Al Qaeda. Read the paper, jerkoff.

So much for that... Some tree huggin hippy has already ruined it.

Do you really think he went over there thinking "hmmm I finally get to kill innocent people"

Everyone should look up to that guy and respect him. Seriously, how much more of a stand up guy and hero can one be? It's a shame, but this guy died doing what he wanted to do, and he should be praised.

I just re-read this thread and I don't think anybody said anything critical about Liberals or about people who don't like the Bush Administration?

I'm a liberal too, and I don't like Bush's foreign policy either, and was not a big fan over this Iraq adventure. But that has nothing to do with Tillman. Tillman joined the Army as a result of 9/11 and was killed in Afghanistan retaliating against the 9/11 attack. Like I said, I'm a liberal too, but I think the military action in Afghanistan has been the most perfectly justified war in our history. Al Qaeda resided there, and the Afghan government was perfectly happy that they were there and even helped hide and support AQ. AQ attacked us. Ergo, we have the right to blow the f*** out of them and occupy Afghanistan in the process.

This is not basketball, where after being attacked we can run to a referee and yell "foul! foul!.. he fouled me and that's not fair!" This is a matter of setting a precedent that tells people if you hijack planes and fly them into skyscrapers full of people, you will face extreme consequences.

As for Wezz' comment about Tillman being an idiot for turning down millions to join the Army, I just don't think he gets the point. The reason WHY he is a hero is BECAUSE he turned down the money and a comfortable lifestyle to be true to his personal principles. Drug dealers make millions too. Are they heroes? Well, then, what is the difference between the two? The difference is how true someone is to their personal principles and what they are willing to give up to stick to them.

Wezz, Regain. I can't think of two more individuals who trully deserve to be bald. For most of us it's a matter of genetics. In your case I'd like to believe the almighty has a direct hand in getting whatever satisfaction he can for making the mistake of putting you miserable SOB's on this earth.

Wezz, you are by far one of the dumbest mother fuckers that have ever posted here. I am 100% against the wars but unfortuently being a human you cant help but feeling for the all the people you have died. WHether they are Iraqi, Afghani, or American. Regardless of whether the SOLDIER who died was previously, an engineer, fast food employee, or a football player, it is still a life lost. Pat Tillmann, stood up for his beliefs and did what he felt was the right thing to do. WOuld you have felt better if he simply decided that he would rather have his millions instead of backing up his beliefs? That makes you more of a follower of the ideals of this war than he ever did. You truly are a b**ch.
