I saw a program on the Discovery Health channel last night. It was about this guy who makes prosthetics (eyes, ears, nose, facial) for those who have suffered a loss through illness or accident. What a wonderful thing this man does. He's such an artist and the prosthetics are so natural looking. Anyway, they had about 4 people on sharing their stories and it is sad and tragic what these people have endured (and continue to endure). Yet these people have survived their ordeal and are so grateful when they receive their replacement part(s). Seeing how happy they were, how it gave them such a lift made me stop and put things into perspective for my own situation. I've only recently been dealing with the hair loss thing and it had totally thrown me for a loop with the emotional upset and fear it has brought. Watching that show last night made my heart go out to those people and made me grateful for what I do have. Hair loss just seems trivial compared to their situations. To me, it isn't a trivial thing but I've been looking for a way to deal with it and perhaps I've found it. I've been counting my blessings today instead of shed hair and it feels good.
