Propecia And Age: Is 19 Too Young ?

I'm almost 20 and I'm debating taking propecia. The potential sexual side effects don't worry me but I am concerned about it possibly stunting my developmental growth (facial hair/features, broader chest, mental capacity, general masculine features, etc.). Is this a valid concern or am I fine to start taking it now? Also for context I've only experienced loss at the temples and am probably at most a NW2 right now.

I started taking it at 19, and all my masculine features have continued to develop however everyone is different. I believe DHT is what develops your secondary sexual characteristics i.e facial hair. For me with taking Propecia for the past 3 1/2 years my facial hair has continued to develop and i have put a lot of muscle mass on. Do your research into the drug and only take it if you feel 100% comfortable to do so.

if your hairloss isn't aggressive yet I would wait for a bit, but if you do start now, I would start a lower dose like 0.2mg

0,2mg ed? Does it really do something for hair?
Is it better to take 0,2mg ed or 1mg eod?

I meant to reply to you in another thread but if you're already on 1mg and have felt fine, stay on that. Maybe if you cycle off of finasteride next time you start it you can do 0.2mg daily instead. I normally advise people to get off of it at least a month in advance while conceiving children because semen DOES in fact leach some of the drug.

In Japan they give out 0.2mg in pills for a reason, because it gives the same . The only exception is for men who have VERY aggressive balding and are big guys full of testosterone, then 1mg would make more sense for them.

0.2 is the lowest dose with an efficacy, lower than that and efficacy drops off to nothing. If you can hold it off with dermarolling, minoxidil, ketacozonole and it's not too bad you'd probably be better off waiting till you turn 21. Otherwise get on .2 mg.

This is not true: http://www.jaad.org/article/S0190-9622(99)80051-6/abstract
Scalp DHT levels were lowered by 61.6% with just a 0.05mg dose. However everyone responds a bit differently so my general rule is that if you're a smaller guy (low weight, height doesn't matter), 1mg is too much in my opinion, and if you're a bigger guy (like Trump, who takes propecia daily for a long time now), then it's probably fine.

Is it worth dermarolling without using minoxidil?
