Propecia and shedding

As suggested by people here, I've just started taking Propecia today. Thanks for the help!

Just one question - I know that shedding phases are likely when taking Propecia. I was wondering if these temporary phases actually make a noticeable physical difference - i.e. make you look visibly more bald? Or does it just cause a bit of temporary panic when a bit more hair than expected comes out in your hands?

I think it depends of the person.

I personally have been on it for 9 months and have had like mini sheds on and off the whole time. I'm hoping it stops after a year, but I'm pretty sure I've maintianed what I had at the start (i'm a temple man) which is good, but alas no regrowth. I'll be givin it maybe 12-18 months then adding the foam to my temples.

Peace...

I shed a lot in the beginning but I never really looked worse to be honest.

shedding

bobblehatbob I have been on finasteride for about 7months and I have had a major shed approx once a month which lasted for 1-10 days. My normal hairloss is approx 40-60 hairs per day. I define a shed as between 120 and 200 hairs a day. I am hoping that these sheds will become fewer with time. I think my hair looks a little better than when I started treatment though.

Whats this shedding 30 a day... or 60 for that. We are normally ment to lose between 100 and 150 hairs a day. That is the norm for a human. You can ask any Dermo that. You might have days with less, you may have days with more (changing seasons and extreme weather, hair cycle).

shedding 100 hair a day COULD be normal....if they are growing back....if they arent (or if less then what is being shed is growing back) then there is a problem.
