Is there any differences whatsoever?

What happens if you take 5mg proscar everyday? Is that safe? This is SO confusing, knowign which one to take

It's totally safe, only slightly more effective than 1mg/day. I cut my Proscar into 1/4s and take 1.25mg/day.

Propecia is a 1mg finasteride tablet prescrbed for hairloss.

Proscar is a 5mg finasteride tablet prescribed for enlarged prostates.

An order of 5mg proscar tabs is much less expensive that the same number of 1 mg propecia tabs - so a lot of us buy proscar and cut one tab into fifths (except those weanies that can't figure out how to cut a tab into fifths - and they cut a tab into fourths) ;-) .

Taking a 5mg proscar tab won't kill you - ibut t's overkill for hairloss, won't be more effective than 1 mg daily, and may incease your chances of negative side effects.

If you're more comfortable w/ the exact presribed dosage, spend a few extra bucks and get propecia.

If you think you have the wherewithall to cut a proscar tab into 5 semi-equal pieces, then save yourself a few $$ and get the proscar.

I get generic proscar and cut it into fourths BUT that still lasts me five days.

"HOW" I hear you ask... well...

Days 1-4 I take one of the pieces that I've cut from the pill

And on day 5 I have the crumbs that are left over :lol:

I've worked out that the difference in DHT reduction from doing this vs taking a straight 1mg pill a day is tiny.

Yes, it's ghetto, but it's cheap and it seems to be working just fine :wink:

Like Pondle said, I think it's slightly more effective, and (not surprisingly) slightly more chance of side-effects.

dont worry about the sides. like i take 5 mg daily and experience no sides you should be fine
