Proscar/finasteride in India?

Hi all,

A quick question that I am hoping someone here can answer. I have been using Proscar cut in to 4's succesfully for over 3 years and I am due to leave to go travelling early next month for 12 months. I have enough Proscar to last me about the next 3 months and wondered if further supply can be bought over the counter in India or anywhere else in SE Asia?

So...if anyone has been to India, Thailand, Malaysia etc and bought finasteride or Proscar over the counter then please let me know! It would be good for someone to put my mind at rest because I'm worried of flushing 3 years of good progress down the toilet because I find myself half way around the world with no finasteride!

Hi,

You can get Finax (Finasteride) manufactured by Dr. Reddy's
You can get a prescription for it in India (in Bangalore, there
is the Manipal hospital)

Some drug shops may be willing to sell it to you if you show them
the prescription that you have got in UK.

Some of them might be willing to sell it without a prescription,
but you should be able to consult a dermatologist and get a prescription
easily. Remember that things are far cheaper in India (both consulting
a dermatologist for the prescription and the actual Finax itself)

Unlike big pharmacy stores in USA, Indian cities have a number
of small pharmacy stores which sell variety of prescription and over the
counter medicines.

From my understanding, finasteride is sold over the counter in India with no prescription required. I would assume you should have no problem finding it.
