Has anyone got any info on, or used something called Protopic. I have Alopecia Arreata and have been prescribed it by a dermatologist. I must admit i'm a bit dubious about this working especially after reading the quote below from the NAAF website.
Well Protopic is Tacrolimus; Tacrolimus is another one of these very powerful drugs used orally to have you not reject your kidney transplant or your liver transplant and the company that makes it, Fujisawa, has made it into an ointment form called Protopic and it's extremely safe. In fact it's officially approved for children as young as age 2 and it can be used on the face for eczema. Now we did do a study with this greasy ointment in alopecia areata. We're just at the end now and I'm sorry to report it was not a success; we had virtually no growth. It just doesn't get deeply enough into the skin so I don't want you running out to buy Protopic to rub on your alopecia areata.
Any info or advice would be appreciated.
