Hi guys im a lady and I have asked this to some of the women on various forums but I wanted your thoughts on this.

Lots of us ladies suffer from odd scalp sensations which range from severe stinging, burning to itching and creepy crawly sensations on the scalp associated with hair loss, unfortunatly I am one of them with the more severe scalp pain, at times pinkish scalp.

How many of you guys experience pain and if you do, how would you describe it and rate it from say 1 being mild and 10 being severe?

I also wanted to add from a womans perspective that bald men are very sexy - and if a woman cannot look past a thinning scalp then she is very shallow - in fact most men I find attractive are those who have thinning hair - so as depressing as hair loss is, please do not think all of us are shallow :)

I think the guys in some ways are more lucky then the women because they can shave and still look extremely hot, in fact bald heads on men are so popular now, and in sme ways the ladies have it easier since we can style are hair and grow it in ways to mask the thinning.

Anyhow guys thanks for your input here! I read lurk on this forum (but this is my first post) often becasue I think the men seem to experament more and I look to see sme of the latest products you all are trying.

Hi,

I currently have a very dry head, not sure what caused it. It's itchy and is sometimes a bit pink. It's not very painfull unless I put something on it like Rogaine or revivogen or things like that, then the pain is like burning like acid on my head. I think I have a scalp problem and when I can be bothered i'll go and see a doctor.

Have you tried a copper peptide? I'm currently using folligen, works wonders but it smells and stains. http://www.skinbiology.ca/main.php?p=573 you should do some further reading.

You could also get tricomin instead but its much more expensive.

The problem is that some of us absolutely hate the bald look and would not want to shave. And although shaving might be *ok* and accepted by society I still think that generally (unless rare occasions) a guy looks better with hair.

Thanks for the props though.

mine felt "sore" in a few places, like it was slightly bruised. but I only noticed it when I touched it, it didn't ache or anything.

It seemed to disappear a couple of months or so after starting finasteride.

Thanks so much I will look into those links.

I find it odd how many seem to experience the pain with the hair loss. Its been about 16 months now sometimes i need an icepack it gets that bad, lots of us women seem to have it, and a good amount of the guys too - some of us ladies have our theories that its excess androgens for the ladies who have pain VS the ladies who have normal androgens and no pain, so I thought hmm maybe its more a guy thing then? But it seems some guys dont have pain and some do...

So I start thinking again maybe its an overproduction of andros that would not normally occur such as from extreme stressors, adrenal stress.. oddly enough a few of us gals have high cortisol me included, somehow I know this cortisol ties into the hair loss/pain. But wow mention this pain to a doctor and I think they write nutcase on the top of the chart because none of them have ever heard of scalp pain with hair loss!

I will certainly look into the tricomin. I saw revivogen but heard about it discoloring the scalp. Positively will check out Tricomin.

I hear you on the hair, I think we all feel we look better with it, nobody wants to loose it  I wish they'd get a cure already!!! Hats off to you guys, your really die hard in finding answers and solutions - thats why I read the forums often, also it seems the men have far better regrowth stories then the ladies

run a hormone test to find out if you have excess androgens. Hormone imbalance can definitely lead to diffuse thinning all over the top.

Hi Ragin,

Its alittle different for women but my andros were upper limits of norm, enough to disturb things so im on spironolactone but to soon to tell if it is helping. For us we get the diffuse loss all over the entire head, some do get crown loss, but most of us seem to get hit hard all over

Im envious of you guys, you seem to get much better results then us ladies maybe because we have a few more hormones to wreak havoc :x

hopefully oral spironolactone will help you regrow a lot of hair back...and the side effect of oral spironolactone shouldn't be a concern for the ladies. lol

Well it is cuz it elevates potassium levels. So one needs to keep a check on that.
