Noticed some crown loss/thinning bout this time last year, did some research on finasteride, ordered some and have bin on it for almost 12months now, I grew my hair out from my grade 1, got passed the dreaded grade 2 stage (when its most noticable), and had it bout a 4/5 which i was happy with cos it was hard to tell there was any thinning atall. If anything finasteride seemed to thicken up the problem area, and hair seemed to look healthier.
After a recent "accident" at the barbers, this is gonna sound like a joke but the hairdresser was doing a 1 gaurd on the sides to blend into the 4, the gaurd fell off and it nicked a chunk out of my hair, it was either a mohecan or a buzz down to a grade 1 all over, so the buzz it was.
The hair has grown back into the dreaded 2 stage, and it appears finasteride has maintained what i had before, ie no more loss - touch wood!
The back of my head, crown area, is one big cowslick, the most noticable loss it not directly in the centre of the crown it is more to the right.
My question is, how the hell my hair looks totaly different from each angle, now i know its all to do with what way the light bounces on the angle of the hair and the hairs direction, but the contrast from one angle to another is completely different. If i sit in my room, with a mirror held behind my head, looking into my big mirror, from one angle my hair looks fine, if i move the big mirror to another area of the room and look again, the thinning area of hair looks dreadfull, obviously the light source is from the window, so what angle do people see when im out and about? A direct source of light straight above ie, a lightbulb, also makes my hair look a mess.
Anyone "shed some light", or anyone in a similar situation? Its confusing to know the extent of your hairloss or more importantly (to me at this stage) weather treatments are working.
