I don't know what to say to you man. it looks like your thinning but at 17 you seem a bit too young to be taking finasteride.

your going to get different opinions about it. if your not getting sides then I would say keep using it. but just keep an eye on it. plenty of people don't get sides straight away but slowly over time. some of those guys recover soon after quitting the drug, some get pfs. its a lottery

but your only 17 so I wouldn't be using finasteride at all. maybe some other less hardcore stuff like minoxidil and zix or something. wait until your a bit older to using finasteride. just my opinion...

Yeah I'd be hesitant to be taking oral anti androgens even before early 20's, although maybe I'd think differently if I had aggressive hair loss at that age. From my understanding dht plays an important role in male physical development, and many men are still growing physically until that point

This.

@OP

Keep taking it. I started to lose it aggressively at 19. If you quit you'll likely to be bald at 22 (srs). You definitely have male pattern baldness. I take it you have a prescription for finasteride, so you're not "experimenting" on your own. The best way to avoid being bald = keep taking finasteride.

Regarding PFS, I don't know. I am taking finasteride since 22 because my GP was an a**h** and did not prescribe it to me. He wouldn't have prescribed it even if I would have been 33. Thing is, no one knows for sure about PFS. I am fine, but others say they're not. I guess that's the risk we are all taking.

My viewpoint is that you should continue because you don't have sides. Just my two cents.

its all about perspective. if you get hit with pfs, you couldn't care less about your hair when your general health is a mess.

man 17 is young to be losing hair that aggressively, is it definitely male pattern baldness? maybe check with your doctor to see if you have any underlying problems.

but even if it is male pattern baldness, I doubt finasteride could save you for very long if your balding that aggressively when your a teenager. is it worth it? I dunno. I think your too young. I would wait a couple more years at least and use some stuff that doesn't f*** with your hormones. minoxidil, nizoral and some other stuff like zix should buy you a bit of time.

on the plus side, judging by your photo, you look to be of dark skinned origin. THAT MAKES A MASSIVE f*****g DIFFERENCE TO HOW GOOD YOU LOOK BALD.

you are only 17 so you obviously still want your hair and probably don't realise it yet, but the fact you have a bit of color in you is huge if that day comes when you have to shave your head.

Aside from the fact that you're 17, I'd say worrying about getting pfs is like worrying about getting cancer, it can happen to anyone. From the looks of the info we get it seems like if you're gonna get pfs, duration of the time on the drug doesn't have much to do with it. if you're feeling overall good on finasteride I'd say don't worry about pfs because you would've already had signs with major side effects like most pfs ers experience.

I personally don't like the fact that you're on finasteride at 17, that would have been my only argument. But we are all risking pfs for our hair it seems. And from anecdotal evidence even 1 week - 1 month could be enough to have pfs

are you under a lot of stress (forgetting about the stress from your hair loss)? do you follow a healthy diet? If you are very worried about side effects, perhaps just take 1mg every other day. or .5mg daily.
