Quite Minoxidil after 4 months

Hello all,

I jumped on Rogaine Foam end of July/beginning of August 2014. It completely destroyed my hairline and never saw signs of regrowth after 4 months, so I quit on Dec. 1, 2014. Been a month and a half now since I quit, but I'm wondering, was 4 months long enough for my hair to become dependant on it? Will I experience the dreaded post-minoxidil shed even though I didn't benefit from it? I should add that I've been on finasteride. consistently since Jan. 2013, also started dutasteride (mon/wed/fri) Oct. 20, 2014.

Thanks for your time.

you already went through the minoxidil shed, which is why your hair got worse

Yeah I did go through the initial shed but I'm worried that the rest of my hair became minoxidil dependant in the 4 months and that I will experience the shed that everyone fears after quitting minoxidil.

I'm wondering this too. I've been applying minoxidil 1x every night for over 3 months now. I haven't experienced any noticeable shedding nor has my hair shown any signs of regrowth. I want to quit after 4 months if nothing changes by then but I'm worried that my hair will shed once I stop even though minoxidil did nothing. Does healthy hair become minoxidil dependent? I mean, even the manufacturer tells you to stop after 4 months if there's no progress.

its only minoxidil dependent if it went through an initial shed and proceeded to grow back thicker. Since you didn't see results and your shedded hair had not yet grown back this probably isn't the case

Yes, if you saw no results, meaning you hadn't regrowth, there's nothing to shed.
