Revivogen has helped

Hi all,

It's been a long time since I was an active poster here. I used to post back in the early to mid 2000s. I used finasteride for almost two years starting in 2001, but I had sexual side effects and had to give up using it. I ended up getting on Revivogen, which I have been using for over 10 years now. About three years ago, I added minoxidil twice daily.

So first let me say that neither finasteride nor Revivogen totally stopped my hair loss. My problem area is the temples, and they continued to thin slowly on either treatment. It was hard to tell how much the drugs were helping because there is no way to know how fast I would have thinned without these treatments.

Nevertheless, I want to share an observation that leads me to believe that Revivogen has helped me to maintain. I have a friend who is about eight years younger than me (I'm 37 and he is 29). When I first met him, which was about five or six years ago, he had only very minor hair loss and was much better off than I was at his age. However, he began to notice his hair thinning in the front and asked what he should do. I suggested finasteride (if he was able to take it) and minoxidil. He didn't want to take the finasteride because of fear of side effects, but he did get on minoxidil, with some success.

However, over the past three to four years, I've noticed his hair thinning quite quickly. We are both cyclists, and we got short haircuts to deal with the hot summer rides. When we did, it was pretty clear to both of us that he had considerably more hair loss than I did. I feel pretty certain that he would have done a lot better had he also gotten on Revivogen, finasteride, or some kind of antiandrogen.

You may have heard that if you are treating your hair loss and keeping an eye on friends who are not, you will notice that they lose hair much faster. This is just an example of that. Don't get me wrong, I have lost hair over the past 10-12 years, but I'm reasonably happy with my maintenance, hairline, and volume. This example makes me realize that the treatments have been worth it, though they are, by no means, a cure.
