After a couple months of hemming and hawing, I found this discussion group – and all I can say is THANKS!! Before this, I had always assumed I had no real say about my hair loss. Reading your messages has really got me motivated. Enough so, that today is Day One of my regimen, (and my 44th birthday!)

Trying to be realistic, I am hoping to maintain what I have now (funny how our goals change). Re-growth, although certainly welcome, would simply be gravy. As a starting point, below are a couple "Before" shots.

I have tried to set up a regimen based on what I’ve read in the discussion groups. If there is something I should add or change, I’d appreciate your thoughts.

Proscar 1.25mg - daily
Minoxidil 2% - twice a day
Nizoral 2% - twice a week
T-Gel - remaining days

Thanks again for sharing your experiences!

Any reason why you're not using 5% Minoxidil?

Atlas:

I screwed up on that one... didn't realize until I arrived at the pharmacy that 2% was over the counter, but 5% was still by prescription (Canada here). It won't be a problem getting a prescription, but it will be next week before I can get back down to see my doctor.

In the meantime, I felt the 2% was better than doing nothing. Right? Wrong?

Thanks!

Yeah i guess that's right. Propecia works best for people with moderate loss like yourself and works especially well for men in their 40s i have found. If your not bothered about regrowth don't use the minoxidil but if your are then carry on.

You have a great regimen there. It certainly pays off to do your research.

Thanks Petchsky! I'll hopefully be able to post a positive update in four months or so.

There are a host of other helpful items to include in your menu.
Did you read about the laser comb? I also recommend pure licorice.
Anti oxidants like omega 3 rich oils are also good for skin health.
Sorry I don't have time to go through my entire menu today, however, if you read all my posts you will get a better picture.
I went bald over twenty years ago, and now I am managing to regrow a significant proportion of my hair, mainly at the front top and temples.
So, I have no doubt that you have a greater chance of success.
The fact is that most men blankly accept their baldness. I have told several of my balding buddies that there are good treatments, but they are too lazy to do anything to help themselves, even though they can see my new hair!
If you do everything you can, you will succeed.
