Hey,
I've been using store-bought Rogaine (5% foam from Walgreens) for about a week now. I didn't have a huge hair loss problem before, really, (NW2 with one iffy temple, didn't really notice until 26), but having a feminine hairstyle is extremely important to me for reasons I can't get into now (long story, and yes, I am a guy), and it's very important that I do what I can to keep my hair. So, I talked to my dermatologist, and he said do rogaine for three months to try to regrow and then we'll talk about finasteride to maintain.
I've been using about a capful per application - most along my temples/NW1 area, some along my vertex (my hair is very long, and has always been fine, it's hard to tell if I'm thinning there but better safe than sorry)
After about a week of rogaine, my temporal recessions are already filled with tiny vellous hairs that I can run my finger over and feel and see. The length of the hair seems to be consistent with how long it might grow in a week for me (a few mm) I've seen a few between my browline and hairline as well; not the normal ones at the fringe of the hairline, but smack in the middle. It's like my whole juvenile hairline is coming back, if the pattern of the vellous hair is any indication. When I raise my brow, it's clear that it stops at the edge, so I'm almost positive i'm not seeing things.
No shedding, yet, either, but it's probably too early for that.
What am I seeing here? Am I jumping the gun? A week seems entirely too short to make any decisions on efficacy, but it almost seems to be too good to be true that I'm getting my NW1 back, even if it's just peach fuzz at this point.
I'm hoping to get some pictures soon..
