I've been losing hair on my temples since I was 20, and now 5 years later I'm at an H2. My temples were visually devoid of hair, but running my fingers over the area I could feel short hairs there. I started using 2% Rogaine a week ago 2x daily, and currently there is a visible thick patch of short, colorless hair covering 90% of the loss areas. Reading the forums I've seen that this result is occurs, but seemingly after a longer time. I haven't found a very good step-by-step progress chart on how Rogaine usually works...they don't even recommend it for this type of loss. Can anyone tell me what I might expect from these new hairs? Does this kind of growth typically shed and get replaced with longer darker hair?
I've been trying to institute other changes as well. Quitting smoking, diet/ excercise. But for actual regimine, I'm going to start using Nizoral twice a week. I was going to use Progaine shampoo and conditioner, but there seems to be some contention here with it's effectiveness. Can anyone recommend a better shampoo and conditioner? And is there anything else anyone would recommend adding to my regimine? Is there any reason to switch to 5% if I'm already seeing this kind of result?
