Hey everyone,

Im a long time sufferer of this f*cked up ****, but new to the forum.

I'm a diffuse NW2.5 with the 6 pattern showing, my father was NW6 at 30. I first started losing my hair at the tender age of 16. By age 19 I was a diffuse NW2.5 with a 6 pattern showing. So I got on finasteride and although I got no regrowth from it, my hair hasn't really progressed at all in the last 6 years (25 now). I've recently decided to get on minoxidil as well. I am not sure if this is worth it though as my hair has been the same since i was 19 and ive heard you cant regrow hair thats lost over 5 years ago. My only thought was...this is a diffuse pattern so no slick bald spots....can i start to recover what i lost when i was 16 or is this really too late now?

There is no real window. Some people respond and others don't.

Nobody can tell you if you'll regrow anything. It certainly can't hurt, at worst minoxidil with the finasteride will help you maintain even longer until new treatments or you can afford a hair transplant.

There is a window, I'm afraid to tell you this, but it's true. The fact of the matter is, once a follicle
has been dead for a period of time, nothing will grow it back. That's the truth.

However, you should probably try to keep, possibly regrow hair lost in the last couple of years.

Also weather elements and stress can also factor in the hair loss. It does matter, it really does.]

For example, if a part that's diffuse/bald gets sunburned, and hair hasn't been there for years, it
probably won't grow back.

That probably doesn't mean you should stop treatment though. And it's OK to use non proven methods,
just not to rely on them.

Hair follicles don't die... This is a fact.

They go dormant, and some people respond better than others, regrowth after 6 years of thinning is far from unheard of.

Can you actually regrow terminal hair? I've only seen fuzz regrown with minoxidil
