Hi Guys or gals,

New here on the forums. Not knew to hair loss. My question is, Ru ( research chem ) has been getting attention again. Has anyone had success with it?
Second question, has anyone tried topical finasteride? If so, what were your results? Now with Ru, I don't mean someone taking 50+mg. In studies, it showed some systemic activity after 20 mg. So anyone try ru at 10-20mg?

My story is unique, as I was on Testosterone Replacement Therapy at a Young age. I was fine on it for 3 years. I switched Dr, and they upped my dose. In that dose upping, my ability to burn fat was more than ever ( which was not the goal ). Then my brand of testosterone changed. It went from generic to brand name. Then boom, my side effects hit. I lost what drs later told me 10-12 years of hair loss in 3 Months. I had no signs of have hair loss before this and the dermatologist seeing past pictures concurred with me having no signs of hair loss prior. So it was chemical induced hair loss due to the above. I ran 4 blood panels, checking DHT, LH, FSH, Free Test, Total Test, Estradiol, and even a panel that is a sensitive hormone panel. My first labs came back and my test was not detectable. Meaning it was over 1500. My DHT on a scale of 30-85, was in the 90s. My estrogen was in the 90s as well ( 3x the normal ). As more blood panels came back, I pulled myself off Test. Pulling yourself cold turkey off test after 4 years.....Is a roller coaster ride in itself. You like Panic Attacks? Bad sleep? Etc....The Dr didn't know what to do.....so I just yanked myself off. Now that Dr is practicing medicine in Nigeria. A month after this happened, no joke, I got letter via Mail stating for religious reasons she is leaving her practice to go to Nigeria. Guys, this was a legit Dr. No online stuff. An actual drs. office in a major medical company.

Unfortunately, among many sides, hair loss. I would say I am a Norwood 2.5 with now diffuse thinning. Temples got that widows peak, with diffuse. Months later, I got blood work, my DHT was in the tank, at 35 on the same scale of 30-85. However, my hair never came back. Which brings me to another issue, if my DHT going from the 90s, down to 35, wouldn't that be like taking propecia/finasteride? Being, would finasteride even work?

Anyway guys or gals, kind of on odd first post. There it is. So, over time, this made me look at RU and Topical finasteride.

My rationale for topical finasteride: When you take finasteride oral, your test will most likely spike because you are blocking DHT ( the enzyme ). However, androgens do to the testosterone spike, can over time build up on the scalp. Test converts to different androgens. Thus probably why over time, some on finasteride, might lose ground. So, this makes my mind focus on the scalp do to what i wrote.

My regiment: Nothing. This happened to me 3 Years ago and I had zero help. I did the whole...."All Natural" thing ( rosemary oil etc ). Yeah, I am still at baseline from the episode above that I wrote. I will not lie, I smash the gym, and women were easy for me( I don't sleep around ). However, after the episode above, I became insecure. I don't want to take minoxidil, as it is a vasodilator, and it does not address the issue. However in my case, my DHT is now on the low side.
