SM04554 if it passes the 3rd phase of testing it will become the 1st drug in 20 years. That in itself is a good reason to be excited.

How effective will it be? well, it remains to be seen. I believe that as monotherapy it will serve to maintain the hair we have and in some cases recover some lost hair

Hopefully combined with skin disruption techniques, if this turns safe and viable, it will be significantly superior to what we already have.

Damn they’re back! I remember the disappointment in 2016.... hopefully that disappointment doesn’t repeat itself

Ok so if follica and samumed did team up, which I Think is unlikely unfortunately, does that mean after samumed phase 3 trial is completed, do they have to do a whole other phase with the use of follica laser and scalp massager?

I doubt it. They'd both need to go trough trials anyway. Maybe they'd want to do a follow-up trial to show maximum efficacy when combined, but you could just get a prescription for Samumed's treatment, and also get Follica's. Not even sure it would accelerate anything if they did team up, considering both companies likely want to sell each treatment independently and in turn need both approved separately. If one of them bought the other's technology, that would be a different story...but no evidence of that just yet.

I really had to comment and update this thread, as I've watched Samumed for a long time and was in contact with them for a short time back in 2016-17.
I actually forgot about them these past few years as they mysteriously ceased communicating with me one day and their PR dept disappeared.
Recently, I looked them up and noticed that they did a company makeover and rebranded themselves to "Biosplice Therapeutics" as well as noticing Mr. Osman Kibar stepping down and the company announcing plans to go public in the future.

What does that really mean? Who knows.

They're a very secretive company as they have a right to be (seeking that holy grail of a "cure" in hair regrowth couldn't possibly be patented if they wished to be profitable).

Samumed is a very disappointing company. If one reads between the lines, whenever a company has a shake-up like this, it very likely could mean they're saving face for some major undisclosed disappointments behind the scenes (i.e, Kibar distancing himself from the leadership of the company) as well as focusing in so many other directions. I also believe they may have bitten off more than they could chew. They were focusing on all sorts of aging issues as well as cancer. That's a workload!

I had been in contact with them and they contacted me and were interested in me for a trial. This was back in 2016-17. It wasn't long after this they ceased all communications with me, for whatever reason. Very poor communication from the particular individual in human trials.
Just like L'oréal and their partnership with the biotech company Poietis and all of their lost promises around the same time that Samumed went public with their plans in 2016. I was in somewhat of a constant email communication with them too and then they disappeared. Their efforts seemed to have petered out too.

I'm just so sick and tired of it all. I'm tired of all of these fruitcake industrialists or idealists (aka- carpetbaggers) bubbling out of no where and disappearing just as quick. The attitude I have and my mindset right now is precisely why most people lose heart, throw in the towel and just shave it off and/or invest themselves in the hair piece industry (never minding a petrified, uncomfortable and uncertain life of having their piece ripped off publicly or the Fear and Loathing of water and perspiration for the rest of their natural lives as well as harboring the costs and constant upkeep of this "option").

Yes, I read all of the posts here and I wholeheartedly agree it all must be rooted in science. But this is about a cure. Hairloss is precipitous and unrelenting. The word "Cure" seems like it's a word people hate using. And we hair loss sufferers also additionally suffer from carpetbaggers and companies who make all of these big announcements and soft empty PR promises. Unfortunately, we must first realize that there's an unholy alliance with the pharmaceutical industry and the economics of it all. There's just no annuity in a "cure". Think of things from their corporate standpoint.

Of all of the dermatologists I've sought out, most of them have been incredibly disappointing (including that fraud George Costarelis). The hair loss "specialists", in some ways were more disappointing as they just go into sales mode () and the most clever specialists seamlessly and smoothly move right into their next sales pitch and idea if they think you're not interested or if they determine that it might not be medically or financially feasible for you as a patient.

Dr. Alan Bauman was a toss up. He did what I mentioned above, but I will say that he literally read and interpreted the dermatological biopsy result substantially better than every one of my dermatologists involved. That's very impressive considering his background isn't in dermatology. I gave up on the dermatology sector after that.

Personally, I think stem cells and follicle cloning is the way to go. And pardon my pessimism, but until the U.S. [i.e, that worthless agency we call the FDA] wises up and stops their sickening over-regulation and stranglehold in both of these industires' ways, means and methods; I just don't think we're going to make much fruitful headway (no pun intended) into the direction of a needed cure.
