Hi, my name , is Sandra and I have been suffering from Frontal Fibrosing for approximately 5 years. I visit a trichologist who initially presibed a cream called Elidel but I now just apply drops to my scalp. I was referred to my local hospital by my GP but they said there was nothing they could do. My whole hairline has receeded considerably, the worst areas though are both sides at the front of my head from where I have lost almost all my hair. I love to go swimming but have not done so for about four years now. I dread going out on a windy day. It is now almost impossible for me to disguise my hair loss and I am now embarrassed to go to my hairdresser who now arranges my appointments early morning when the salon in quite. I have now applied to my local PCT for funding as there is a clinic in London who can fit, I suppose it is a partial wig but it is attached to my hair in some places and attached directly to my scalp where there is no hair. I am not hopeful that I will get the funding for this, the cost if approx £5,000 per year, it is quite high maintenance. If the PCT refuse I will appeal the decision. My youngest daughter is getting married next Spring so I feel I am running out of time and I am now considering whether I might be better off buying a good quality wig, the scary thing about that is I would have to have all my hair shaved off in order that the wig would fit corrrectly, the wig then stays on all the time except for every 6 to 8 weeks when my head would have to be shaved.
