This is my first post.. I am desperate for help that anyone can give me. It has been a whirlwind of a year trying to figure out what is going on with my hair loss.
About a year ago, I got my hair dyed at a well-known salon. It was the first time in like 15 years I had my hair dyed, so I thought nothing of it.
I do have seborrheic dermatitis, but didn't think it would affect it.
About 2 months later, i noticed significant shedding. I'm talking at least 200 hairs a day. Just clumps every time I brushed it or even ran my fingers through my hair.
I tried just about everything, but nothing was helping. At the time, I had NO idea it could be the hair dye. But I switched salons just in case maybe the one previous used something too harsh, and got my hair colored again. This was 6 months ago.
It did seem like after she colored it and cut it (and did a deep conditioning treatment), the hair loss slowed down or stopped. Then a month or so later, the shedding started. It's still a lot more than normal, but not as much as after the previous salon. I thought maybe the conditioning or different dye is what helped it.
It kept getting worse so I went in last week to color it again, since seeing this girl helped last time. I was dead wrong. It's honestly just as bad.
So now I am thinking maybe it is somehow related to my dermatitis, where the dye triggers telogen effluvium or something like that.
Has anyone experienced this? I am obviously not dying my hair anymore. A few things:
1. It is all-over thinning. I don't have bald patches that I can see.
2. I have seborrheic dermatitis, so I am already limited with what shampoo I can use.
3. I did try Aphogee once, and it seemed to help slow it down, but not completely.
At this point, I just need some product recommendations (or supplements) that might help stop the shedding for new growth. I started with a lot of thick, curly hair (luckily), so I'm probably the only one who notices it. But I can tell how rapidly it is thinning by just feeling it and how many more times my hair ties wrap around pony tails and buns. I mostly just want to STOP the shedding at the very, very least. Or I will eventually be bald at this rate.
