Shaving

Being completely bald with only a fringe of hair left at the very back and sides, I shaved off my head after hearing so many people recommending this method to regain confidence with women. Even immediately after shaving, when I looked into the mirror the horse-shoe shape was still visible. And it has gotten worse after 5 days. I'm a bit afraid to keep shaving it very often, that it might damage any alive follicles. Barbers here don't use shaving cream on the head, just apply water and some spray and then apply the blade. Is it worth it, as the horse-shoe is still visible even immediately aftrer shaving?

The horseshoe will still be visible just like your "beard shadow" may still be visible just after you shave; you may shave down to skin level, but you can still see the hairs on the surface (and you can see through a few mm of the skin as it is translucent).

Shaving closer lessens this effect somewhat but you'll always be able to see the horseshoe, the only way not to see the horseshoe would be to pluck all of the hairs out from the roots.

It's more noticeable on people with pale skin and dark hair.

As cuebald says your combination of skin tone and hair color will have a decent effect on how noticeable it is. Your style of shaving and frequency will also have a decent effect overall. If you haven't yet, throw away any cartridge razors you have and get yourself a good safety razor. All of that schick/gillete crap you buy at the supermarket is best left for teenage boys who were never taught any better. A safety razor will provide you with a far superior close shave with much less irritation meaning you can also shave more frequently (avoiding the 5'oclock shadow). Extra bonus: the money you save on blades more than covers the upfront cost of making the switch in under a years time (much quicker if you're shaving both your face and your head).
