I switched from Rogaine foam to liquid during the start of September and experienced shedding from this. Has anyone experienced this? And how long does it take to recover?
I initially had a shed on the foam which was a little behind my hairline but after a couple months it thickened up and looked better than before treatment. But then in the end of August I switched to the liquid and have been shedding mainly the front hairline. I only apply the liquid to the front left of my head which is where I have thinning hair. For some the liquid has a better vehicle for penetrating the scalp, if you did not get a shed when you started the foam im willing to bet money that the minoxidil in the foams solution was not being absorbed by your scalp at all, effectively wasting it. If im right then you now are technically just starting minoxidil and this is your initial shed.
To answer your question, im not sure how long it takes to recover, im on oral minoxidil personally. My shed has stopped and i am seeing new regrowth on bald parts of my head but the damage done by the first shed has not came back yet, i fully expect it to but im only a month and a half in. Good luck!
I was having dermatitis or something from the foam. I had to quit it for about 1.5 weeks then I started the liquid. The liquid still gives me dandruff but I don't break out as much. I told my wife I just wanted to shave my head, but she thinks I shouldn't and I should continue using the liquid. The problem is I have the front left of my hair is fairly thinner compared to my right side which looks normal. My doctor says that male pattern baldness doesn't start symmetrically. I'm also taking propecia since May so hopefully that helps things. But if it weren't for my wife I'd say screw it and go for the Moby look.Hmm im not sure then, why did you switch to liquid if you were getting results from foam?
