I have been on finasteride for... I think 8 months now. Maybe more. Look at my post history for my threads, and some will have pictures.

I am shedding tons of miniaturized hair all the time.

My hairline is Norwood 2, or Norwood 2.5. BUT , I have minitruized hairs throughout my hairline which only are TERMINAL once I am like Norwood 3.

This is image ti try to explain:

It is sometimes hard to tell where minitruized hair is if it is not on the hairline because ALL OF MY HEALTHY HAIR GOES TO MY SHOULDER., but I notice thin areas on top behind an "island" of terminal hair. Fair amount of hair behind that island in the middle is less than 3 inches long.

I have been following a single hair at the front of my hairline for months now. It shedded about a month ago, and has not grown back. I think this is a sign that my minitruized hair is all going to die while on finasteride, and not grow back.

----

If you are interested...:

All of the hair I shed from the top of my head have a white crust on the bulb on them, that comes off if I rub my fingers against it. I also think when I look at my falled hairs, that towards the root it is getting thinner.

---

Is finasteride going to kill all my miniaturized hairs? My hair is getting only thinner, and I am giving up hope.

Telogen lasts for about 2-4 months in normal hair man. The hair cycles of miniaturized hair are all kinds of fucked up, making telogen significantly longer and anagen significantly shorter. I can tell you this, hair doesn't just go from 3 inches in one growth cycle to completely miniaturized in the next. Just be patient and have faith in the medication. The first year is a real c***. 18-24 months is where you can visually interpret the efficacy of your regimen. 8 months isn't sh*t in the hairloss game.

I'm curious your thoughts because short miniaturized hairs falling was my biggest problem.

I started out last summer shedding a ton of miniaturized hair (like 1 inch hairs)
I started on topical spironolactone/estrodial and minoxidil and got my ferritin up ( I was anemic which made it all worse I think)
And within several months the miniaturized hair stopped shedding--some still shed but nothing like before.
then a few months later some new terminal hairs grew in, and i have pretty good regrowth.

I'm am just curious your thoughts on which medication helped stop the shedding of the miniaturized hairs?
I only ask because I would love to know if the topical spironolactone is actually working or if I am wasting time on it.

Does Minoxidil help the miniaturized hair be more rooted in scalp?
I was able to pull them out super easy last Summer (until meds all kicked in).

FYI I am a woman, 45 years old.

I didn't mean to say that terminal hairs were turning miniaturized, rather, that my huge amount of miniaturized hairs are falling out, and they don't appear to be growing back

It is very noticeable because I had a thick layer of miniaturized hairs, which at least helped cover up the temples, if I put ALL my terminal hairs over my temples as well.

Now if I try to put all my hair over my temples it has gaps.

EVEN IF I PUT THE ENTIRE TOP OF MY HEAD TO ONE TEMPLE, it still has gaps!!! It wasn't like that a year ago.

I am afraid that finasteride is not helping my minitruized hairs, and they are all going to die and I will end up norwood 3-4, even though I am on finasteride.
