Should I stop big 3 ? Pic of minoxidil dark circles inside

Hi im highly tempted to give up the big 3, I have been on liquid minoxidil (nights) and rogain foam (mornings) and nizoral shampoo and finasteride daily for over 4 years.

I have not made any gains and lost a bit with my hair line, the only thing the big 3 gave me was these lovely dark circles around my eyes and since I am Indian, the sides look like 2 black eyes frankly!

As you can see it looks quite bad, people always say I look tired and like I have not slept.... even worser it makes me look way older then I am.

Considering the side effects and since I have not seen any gains apart from 1000s of tiny minoxidil hairs that never sprouted and I have barely kept what I have is it worth giving it all up or sticking to finasteride + nizoral for now? I am just worried the dark circles will not go away right now....

Gosh, it is hard to say without a reference point before you ever started minoxidil. Also, how do we know minoxidil caused that? You're not the first person that corralated minoxidil with appearance issues such as dark circles. I expierence side effects from minoxidil but in a different way. There is a very annoying pressure near my left armpit whenever i apply an excessive amount of minoxidil. I am thinking about switching to a 2% version because it is causing me distress. I am not sure if this is all in my head or not, but there seems to be a lot of new white hairs on my face where there shouldn't be hair. I don't have dark circles but I only take in a small amount of minoxidil a day. (1x 0.5 ml of 5%)

Well I never use to have such bad dark circles around my eyes before using minoxidil.

And one of minoxidil side effects is you can get dark circles around your eyes.

There was a massive thread about cures for dark circles not so long ago and it seems there was no effective cure for dark circles.

I did not notice the dark circles much since I wore specs and it covered it up 90% but recently had laser surgery so now all is revealed 100% !

Anyhow only one way to be 100% sure I have stopped the big 3 for this week and Im hoping in a few weeks time the dark circles vanish once minoxidil is flooded from my system.

It would be nice to hear from anyone else is they stopped minoxidil and there eyes/face comes back more healthy ?

Well according to previous posters like yourself and massive "how to stop dark circles" threads.... alot of folk on here belive its the minoxidil

I cant be 100%

For the 1st time in 4 years I stopped all treatments... its almost been a week and no real change in the dark circles I think it may take a few weeks but cant be sure.

Again would love to hear from anyone in relation to dark circles and if theres went away after stopping minoxidil/finasteride etc, thx

I'm pretty sure it's the Minoxidil. I had the exact same problems on minoxidil, a week after I stopped the dark circles vanished.

From wiki:

Minoxidil is also a vasodilator.[8] Hypothetically, by widening blood vessels and opening potassium channels, it allows more oxygen, blood, and nutrients to the follicle.

Dark circles under the eyes are blood vessels that can be seen through the skin. Minoxidil widens blood vessels, letting more blood in. This makes the dark circles more visible in people who are genetically predisposed to it. This is my thinking anyway, I have no science to back this up.

Well my mum has dark circles but shes in her 60s, and even then its not the same as mine.

My sisters not got any and shes in her 40s, I am 34 years old.

I do not recall such bad dark circles even before the treatments...

Its been a week and no real change yet but its early days yet

I can relate with you man, I am also Asian with brown skin and was about to pose the same question here.
Last year I used minoxidil only, and got this dark circles. I then stopped using it after 4 months.

Now I am using it regularly(along with finasteride), and the dark circle is coming back, big time. I am using foam only.

Any help ??

I am not sure what you mean ?

If your referring to zinc tablets, then no I use to take zinc tablets but stopped about 3-4 months ago, I try and just eat more fruit/veg/nutz in my daily diet instead. Unless Zinc is going to improve the dark circles im not sure ?

Its all true I think Indian/Asian people will be worser looking and worser effected simply since we have darker skin. I guess with black people you would notice it also but surely not as bad.

Its good to hear it is minoxidil causing the issue.

Its now been almost 2 weeks since I stopped minoxidil liquid/minoxidil foam rogain and finasteride and nizoral shampoo.

But sadly no change, the side effects of finasteride have gone however I am getting stronger erections and sometimes morning wood and feel more perky :woot:
however the dark circles are still there sadly.

Ill give it another few days but may try the tapping excersices found on youtube for dark circles, apparantly it helps loosen the blood vessels around the eye causing the dark circle and doing this can help a little.

Really though I can feel like my blood vessels are clogged under my eyes making my eyes more heavy on my face like.... guess that is the minoxidil thats trapped the blood vessels making me look 10 years older then I am lol

I would not be half surprised if finasteride is also causing the dark circles, but it does seem its more from the minoxidil.

I think after 4-5 years of being use to the dark circles, I can barely remember when looking in the mirror to see nice clear skin and eyes again....

I really want my eyes and face back :shock: ill post an update of my eyes with a pic maybe in a week or 2 time and perhaps you guys can see a difference!

i think the same, that comes from minoxidil

i had in 14Years finasteride never dark circles
than minoxidil and Horror

or a liver Problem from finasteride!

Quick update:

Its still too early too tell but no real change in skin appearance
I am tempted to use a moisturiser or cream to soften the skin but I have been off all hair treatments and any chemicals for 2 weeks now and no real difference.

Stronger erections are coming back, and feel less tired. My face does not feel as heavy either. Hair looks crap though but feels a lot more silky and smoother and healthier but its tricky since cannot style it or hold it.

Im taking minoxi for almost a month, day and night use, and never experienced any side effect, maybe a little itching in the first 5 min but that's nothing, I'm happy with the results so far, true it dosent stop the hairloss but it's made my hair grow back on some bald areas on the front, everynight I see more hair there, problem is, I'm thinning on the middle of my head, can't find a good shampoo to prevent it

I got those from minoxidil too, it sucks, I eventually had to quit.
