Skin discolouration from Xandrox

I have been using Xandrox for the past 18 months and prior to that a compounded solution of 7% minoxidil and 0.025% Retinoic Acid. Over the past 18 months I have noticed that the skin along my hairline has lightened considerably and I now have a visible difference in pigmentaton between the area that the Xandrox is applied to and my forehead. There is a distinct line separating the Xandrox area from the rest of my forehead. I figure it has to be one of the ingredients of Xandros that is causing this. Maybe the retinoic acid? Perhaps the axaelic acid? I did not have this problem when I was using the compounded mix of 7%minoxidil and 0.025% Retinoic Acid. The skin where the Xandrox is applied is blemish free and looks fantastic. I either need to find a skin care product that will have the same effect on the rest of my forehead, or consider stopping the Xandrox. I also apply 5% spironolactone cream to the same area.

Any suggestions as to what ingredient may be causing this?

Is anyone else having this problem?

I've got a referral to see a dermatologist, but my appointment is over a month away.

It is the azelaic acid, it is also used to reduce skin pigmentation. you can find it in skinoren (an acne cream) for facial application.

Thanks for the info. I'll try applying azelaic acid to the rest of my forehead and see if that works.

My current regime:

1/4 Proscar/day
2 x 160mg Saw Palmetto/day
Morning and evening: 1/2 ml Xandox 5% (with Azelaic Acid and Retinoic Acid). Applied to rear and mid scalp. 15 mins later I apply 5% spironolactone Cream to hairline.
Morning and evening: 1/2 ml Xandrox 15 Plus. Applied to hairline area. 15 mins later I apply 5% spironolactone Cream to hairline.
2 times/week I shampoo with Nizoral 2% Shampoo. On the other nights I use Neutrogena T/Gel Shampoo and conditioner.

My Results: I've been using Finasteride for approx 12 years now, along with various strengths of minoxidil solution. I have a lot more hair than both of my brothers who are of similar age and who don't use anything to prevent hair loss. My problem area is the temporal region. I changed from a compounded 7%minoxidil + retinoic solution to the Xandrox 15 around 18 months ago. In that time I have suffered further hair loss in the temporal area. I don't know if it's the xandrox that's caused it, or if it would be worse if I wasn't using the Xandrox. Maybe the spironolactone is not doing me any favours. This will sound weird, but there is one solo hair that comes and goes over about a 4 month cycle in a bladed area of my temoporal region. It always comes through as a thick black hair, grows to about a one cm in length, then falls out. Since I have been using the spironolactone, that hair has not been seen. It has been doing it's cycle for as long as I've been bald in that region. I find it unusual that it's stopped appearing since I started the spironolactone cream. It makes me wonder if the spironolactone has actually accelerated the loss in my temporal area. The other thing of note is that I have had accelerated greying of my hair since I started the Finasteride. Neither of my brothers have any grey hair, yet I am almost completely grey now.
