Some News on Cloning / Multiplication

Hi all, have been losing hair for four years now but just joined the forum (wish I'd found this earlier). Anyway, just wanted to relay a chat I had with my derm a week ago on hair clioning - make of if what you wish.

Apparently the 3 to 5 year timeframe for hair cloning is very, very optimistic. My derm chatted to a few of the guys from Bosley at an IHRS meeting in Sydney, Australia last year, and their view is that the process is still 10 years away. Ken Washenik (God bless his him) is frantically working to get something out as he is under quite intense pressure from Aderans, who have invested quite a large amount of capital but have not seen any return. Washenik has said 2009, but the guys below him are not as confident with that timeframe (they believe realistically 10 years). (Recall that Washenik estimated a product in 2007 back in 2002, and that isn't working out). Basically my derm's view is that Washenik is the real deal, and is certainly at the forefront of technology, but he also has pressures from his bosses and that does dictate what he says to the media.

Intercytex, on the other hand, has been quite secretive in its research. What makes people skeptical is press reports for Intercytex's baldness cure did not surface until a few months before they planned to float on the AIM (the cynics amongst us might say it is all part of their investor marketing strategy). I work in the capital markets industry, and in my experience startups are not shy about making overly optimistic assumptions when they want to raise funds.

Anyway, just something to think about. I would love for something to come out sooner rather than later, and I hope like hell that my derm is wrong, but have also been disappointed many times when timelines did not work out as planned so not getting my hopes up.
