I crushed 10 "Spiractin" tablets in a morter then brushed the yellow powder into a 250 ml beaker and added 50ml of absolute Ethanol. After mixing for 20 minutes it was vacuum filtered using glass filter paper. The filtrate was very clear and only slightly coloured as expected.

A stir bar was added to the beaker and it was placed in a water bath on a hot plate/stirrer and the water temp was maintained at about 75 deg C. When the alcohol was gone, there was a hard opaque glassy film in the bottom of the beaker which was broken up with a spatular. The extracted Spironolactone was 1.2g.

19ml of "Bulletproof" XCT oil from coconut and/or palm kernel oil (Caprylic and Capric acid) was added and mixed. The Spironolactone did not dissolve. Why? I thought it was fat soluble.

Even 12 ml ethanol didn't do it. I was hoping I wouldn't have to use polysorbate or propylene glycol. So it's back to using ****ty Cetaphil until I can find a safer alternative.
