Sucks for us guys that this hairstyle is the trend now

The classic slick to the side look is the "trendy" hairstyle now.

I wish I could wear it, but it is a balding man's worst nightmare.

I tried it and look AWFUL.

I'm a trendy guy. I'm not afraid to admit it

Its never been a better time to be bald than recently.
What about the 60's,70's and 80's when big hair was in and NOBODY except weirdo's and freaks shaved their head.

You have three pics here.

1. Of a romantic comedy guy in movies
2. A Hipster who will age very poorly.
3. A photo of someone from the 50's from a TV show who doesn't wear his hair like that in real life. In fact he has said he hates that hair style.

Not a very good cross cut of the point you're trying to make

1. Ryan Gosling is not a romantic comedy guy... he's actually a huge asset to the independent film genre... he's a rather dark guy. That's beside the point though. Ladies love him.. and he ALWAYS wears the hairstyle.

2. This 'hipster' is one of the #1 artists in Canada and ladies love him as well.

3. Okay well maybe a bad example, but a lot of guys are wearing this hairstyle now.

Another example:

Yeah again tho....you keep bringing up people who have professional stylists that are in the independent industry.

And I still say Mr Hipster is going to age horribly with those horrendous tattoos.

ok true but I see many people who do not have professional stylists around me all the time with it.

Also - yeah you're probably right about the aging haha. I think he looks pretty cool now, but yeah give it time

I'm a hairdresser in London and although that "style" is becoming more fashionable that doesn't mean you have to emulate it. In fact the most fashionable and modern thing to do is to style your hair in the way that it suits you and that you feel comfortable with. The worse thing regarding fashion is if someone tries to wear a style that doesn't suit them. It's far cooler to wear something that's appropriate for their existing look, personality and size than to copy the latest fashion just for the sake of it.

I've got the same haircut, damn I didn't even know I was following the fashion trend, I went to some swanky hairdresses, stylists, whatever and came out with that...

I see the point you're making Brick, and I think it is heavily influenced by Mad Men (Great Show!) and the rivival of the 60s style.

I agree with the thread starter, the swedish high-fashion brand acne spring/summer 2011 hairstyle:

cool, so this is the "trend" now? What was it before? I always comb my hair to the side...that has always been my style. Who knows...I could've helped start the new trend...lol

I couldn't agree more. This trend is hot right now and it looks damn good but receding temples = nono

This hairstyle is all about the hairline... Inspired me even more to add retin-a or scalp roller in my temple fight!!!

In my opinion, anyone above a NW1.5 hairline should stay well away from this style. I've seen plenty of supertrendy guys with recession and diffuse thinning attempting to wear this sty;e, thinking they're the dogs ballix, but frankly they look ridiculous!

It seems to be the most popular style all over England right now! I'm blaming West Ham player, Scott Parker and that silly twat Joey Essex for popularising this ridiculous cut.

Anyway, I agree with the hairdresser, stick with whichever style suits you & aim for styles which lessen the appearance of your hairloss (and no i'm not talking about a f*cking combover), rather than ones which accentuate your diffusion or recession, like this sorry mess.

I agree! I tried to go for something similar to the guy in the first pic, and like Primo said, the Joey Essex look, haha, also like the hair in highroller's pictures! But when i do it, i look more like the guy in your 2nd pic, it does looks ridiculous.

Like that hairdresser said, stick to something that suits you, and one thing that's always suited me is having my fringe down.

Like others, I have to agree with the hairdresser. Whenever you do a style that just isn't you it's awkward looking. I've never cared about what was in at the moment and I've always worn my hair long because it is my unique look and not very common with guys. Girls tell me that I'm one of the few who pull it off well so why change a good thing because it's what everyone else is doing.

yea, you don't always have to follow the trend. Just do whatever fits you best. This "to the side" looks happens to be that for me. I've always done it that way even before the trend.
