Tape On Skin Piece Starts "melting" After 10 Days?

Hey guys,

I wanted to ask your opinion to know if this is normal or if I did something wrong:
I have a skin piece for which I have used tape all around (Walkers no shine). It's all good in the first day but around the 10 days mark, the tape kind of melts and the gluing agent of the tape starts separating from the tape paper over the days. So the gluing agent becomes messy and stringy all over the place and then the tape paper just sticks out at some point and I can take it off with my hand.

I was wondering if anyone had this issue before, if it's related to the fact I'm using a skin base or else..

Thanks!

All tape does that. The adhesive mixes with your skin oils and sweat, and degrades, gradually losing its adhesive properties and becoming gungy. It's nature's way if telling you to take your unit off and clean it. The only difference is how long it takes. Some guys get away with 14 days, others only 7 days, depending on their body chemistry.

It doesn't matter whether you wear skin or lace, although I guess it might happen more quickly with skin, because your scalp oils are trapped under the base. It's also easier to deal with if you wear a skin base. With a lace base the degraded adhesive can start to migrate through the mesh onto the hair itself, which is a major clean-up headache.

You just need to take your piece off for maintenance more frequently - maybe every 7 days.
