Testicular Cancer?

I looked through the links on here and goggle, but I can't really find anything note worthy, so I wanted to reach out and ask the group. I've been experiencing some dull ache feeling in the teste area with my 1/4 proscar treatment. My ultimate concern is that Propecia or finasteride somehow causes or is linked to testicular cancer. Does anyone else have this worry or know if it's a rational thought. I saw on some websites there are no links and the 'ache' is just a byproduct of taking finasteride, but obviously if there is cold hard evidence out there that it's linked I think I'd much rather just save my balls.

Were you on finasteride, was it directly related to the finasteride? What were your symptoms and how were you diagnosed?

No, no finasteride is not connected to testicular cancer. If you think it is, then quit the drug. Good luck with whatever you do.

Thanks Irishfella, but achey pain in the nutz is semi normal for propecia users lol that's somewhat reassuring i would say...

The overall chance of you getting test cancer is actually LOWER if you're on finasteride. However, the chance of you getting a higher grade cancer is HIGHER than if you weren't on finasteride. When I say "higher" I mean that now you have a 2-1000 chance instead of a 1-1000 chance (random numbers, not official stats). It's a VERY small number still.

Ball ache is fairly common. I got it when I started finasteride @ .5mg, and then again when I upped it to 1.25mg.

Yeah it's kind of scary when you think about something causing physical pain in your family jewels.

Where are you getting this information? I've never seen anything relating finasteride to testicular cancer. Prostate cancer maybe, since finasteride is used for benign prostate hyperplasia, but I've definitely never heard of finasteride lowering the chance of testicular cancer.

And even for prostate cancer this thing with more aggressive cancer is only half true. Finasterid can interfere with tests for prostate cancer, so the cancer is detected later -> more servere outcome.

If you tell them your using finasteride they can adjust the test results to account for it so its not a big deal. I thought a study found lower incidence of prostate cancer but the few cases were more severe.
