The Mindfuckery Of Inconsistent Appearance Of Hair

I feel like I'm in this category, I couldn't quite think of a name for it but we all know what this is like, from day to day your hair can go from looking quite good, to looking like an absolute disaster. Mine has been more up and down than ever recently, pictures from a recent night out look almost fullhead, other ones from a recent event it looks damn bad, like almost diffused to bald. I don't f*****g get it.

Which of course is why it is smart to always take photos of yourself from the exact same angle, exact same lighting, same camera/phone, and I'd recommend both dry and wet shots (wet being vital, and I don't think a lot of people do this).

So anyway, you don't see many examples of "celebrities" that this happens with, but I just saw this British politician again who looked horrendous on TV, sometimes his hair looks passably not bald, and from googling his pictures, his hair is very inconsistent.

Hugo Swire:

OK, it's obviously thin, norwood spotters like us would pick it out of a crowd, but for a guy of his age I don't think the majority of people would see this and think "oh, BALD".

Then on other days, like the day I just saw on TV:

Actually, he looked even worse than this.

I think the case of Hugo is a rare one, I've never seen such an inconsistent appearance. Normally if that front patch is thin, you will regularly see through it, of course if you're thin it's best to keep your hair short, this probably wouldn't work for him.

I've seen him in low lighting look completely diffused, and in high lighting still looking like he has hair. This is baffling to me.

What I find frustrating is that you leave home with good hair
Go back home 8-9 hours later
You look at your hair in the mirror
You see a different person :-/

My mood depends on how my hair looks. Good hair days lately are not happening. Have no idea why.

Same with me.
I know it's petty, or at least that's how many people would see it.
However, if I go out of the house (no pun intended) with good volume and texture, I am happy for most of the day.
If I have a bad hair day, it's gonna be an overall bad day.

This is all part of the mystery of hair
But there are lots of things in our life time that we wont be able to grasp
I dunno

It's usually a case of lighting, styling, hair products that results in the same person's hair looking different. A good day/bad day. Seasonal sheds and more hair in telogen at certain times won't help baldites. Of course, progressively things may also be getting worse with each subsequent cycle.

For me it varies between really nice to goodish hair, my eye is simply on the future. Since my hair transplant one of the biggest benefits is I know longer feel self conscious/inferior about my hair loss - probably the main reason people go for surgery. Before, if I was watching a movie with hot girls and they liked a certain movie star, I would feel worried purely because of my hair loss even though it wasn't that bad yet. Now I could not care less, I feel Iiberated from this.

I agree that a hair transplant is life changing.
Plus, there is absolutely no therapy (unless you're really really lucky with minoxidil/fina) that can give you the improvements of a transplant.

I'm looking forward to getting transplant. I'm currently looking at doctors in Canada. I will spend 20k if need be and try to get the most packed Norwood 1 hairline money can buy. Don't really care if it costs 20 grand. I will literally be on GOD MODE with a David beckam styled undercut.

Looking forward to it.

Welcome to the land of diffuse snd progress male pattern baldness.

Once you are passed a NW3 while having tour entire scalp diffuse you enter the grounds that you describe.

Hair almost always looks like sh*t unless you just got of of the shower and styled it.

A good combover does wonders, when those long vellus hairs mix with the thin hairs at the front they shine obfuscating the scalp.

If you notice when his hair looks thinner is when it appears dark brown and when it looks fuller it appears blonder.
