The one thing worse than being a balding/bald guy who looks mediocre or decent at best is being morbidly obese. I've watched more than my fair share of obesity documentaries, its one thing that gives me comfort and reassurance that if one day i am to reach the noticable balding stage (NW4+) that i wont have lymphedema, bed sores, bad hygiene and all of the other unfortunate side effects that comes with obesity. Even if you lose all the weight you will still have all that excess skin, and with 25,000 dollars as the average price for gastric bypass surgery you could easily exhaust your donor hair, use beard grafts and top it all off with an SMP procedure. I bet there would still be money left over for treatsments too. Ive given quite a dark perspective on our balding issue, but im sure knowing this some can feel better about their shiny head. Balding isn't the worst thing in the world guys, it is OBESITY.

Yes but you will be left with hideous excess skin and massive stretch marks. Sure you can get it removed but with the cost of the skin and bypass surgeries you could easily have a decent head of hair for that price! 6000 grafts to front of head combined with beard and body grafts and an SMP to finish it up. Could get a NW2 with poor density with average donor, use some hair fibers or toppik, add in some hairspray to hold in place and you will look great

Definitely do not agree with this. I'm not sure how old you are but EVERYTHING on the body ages. I would rather be completely bald instead of getting arthritis, memory loss, vison and hearing lose, bowel problems, knee problems etc. Look at all the stuff people into their 60's and beyond have to worry about, thinning hair is probably last on their list.

I have had severe back pain since my late teens. It's not fun to go through. Now Im im my 40's and I have learned to deal with it and researched that back issues affect everyone. Mine is much better now but I still deal with some pain. We all get degenerative discs and lose height as we age.

So before you think that balding is one of the worst things you will have happen to your body you may want to rethink that.

There are plenty of bald 100 year olds, the majority of them are actually - but there aren't any obese 100 year olds, and there never will be.

No point in arguing which illnesses and diseases are worse. They're so different and all are unfortunate. Obesity can be fixed with diet and exercise to an extent, but if your parents fucked you over as a child and you grew up with these bad habits it is difficult to beat. You can also have hereditary high blood pressure, diabetes, and other illnesses that go along with it. Hair loss sucks because the treatments aren't great, and hair loss can completely ruin your looks and outlook on life, and technically many of the treatments to save your hair can actually mess with your health. So trying to treat the problem can just lead to more problems. Any serious life threatening illness is just a completely different ballpark. Isn't even relate-able.

Agreed. Only positive thing about cancer is you can wear a hairpiece and not have to worry about being detected.

There are a lot of things worse than being bald, every time I see some young kid with a congenital disease that restricts mobility I kick myself for my vanity.

i'm not even going to play. being bald is the worst of the "normal" disorders. but once you get into serious stuff, we're talking another ballpark or league. when you get to cancer, naw, being bald is much better.
